Why Did I Decide To Stay On Steemit Despite My Pitiful Earnings?
This post is in response to @malloryblythe's contest for newbies. She's giving away all of her curie prize in the form of steem basic income. What a great way to pay-it-forward! Let me tell you the story about when I decided that I wanted to keep on steeming. I initially joined Steemit because I love to write and I also need to earn a few extra bucks--because raising a toddler doesn't come cheap. But after my #introduceyourself post, I soon realized how difficult it is to make it big in Steemit. I mean, how do you become rich when you barely earn $3 per post? I still continued writing, anyway. I convinced myself that it was just gonna be for fun. But, who am I kidding? It's difficult to go on when nobody appreciates your work.
Then one day, this kind lady found me and showed me that I am appreciated and I do have a voice. Yes, I'm talking about you @beeyou. :)
I'm not sure what she saw in me but she even submitted one of my posts to curie. Sadly, I didn't quite make the cut. That would have been the end of my story had it not been for @randomwanderings. Instead of letting it rot away into obscurity, he submitted it to @sneakyninja's The Daily Sneak to get curated--and it got featured! Best. Feeling. Ever. I also got a nice share of SBI as a prize for being featured. Well, it wasn't curie but it still meant the world to me. It was so surreal because I wasn't really expecting to get noticed. I have confidence issues. lol Here's a link to the post in question if you're curious about it.
From then on @beeyou became (sort of) my cheerleader. I could really feel her sincerity in wanting me to succeed. It's hard to give up when you know that there is someone who actually enjoys your writing. I mean I'm a bit insecure about my writing skills because I'm not as good as some other writers. Yes, I do tend to compare myself with others (which is not a very good practice, I know!) But, she believes in me even on days I do not believe in myself--and it made me want to prove that her belief in me is not misplaced.
I still make just a pittance but Steemit became more than just a place to earn money. It became a place where I can share my thoughts and ideas without being judged--well, hopefully without being judged.
@beeyou is such a sweet cheerleader. She kept cheering me on and she still does. She tells you words you needed to hear to encourage you and make you feel better and believe in yourself.
True! She does exactly that. She is a natural born cheerleader.
That’s very sweet @leeart. Unfortunately, I’m always late to the game now so I can’t do much cheerleading. Of course I will continue to cheer you on, but may not always have a chance to put in in words. (As you can tell with my late reply)
I know you will appreciate late or not, commented or not :D I myself have some catching up to do and at times I cannot even get back to replies.
You are just the sweetest. I really do enjoy your writing. Being a mommy too, I can relate to sooo many of the things you write about. I don't share them myself because I'm not much of a writer and just too private of a person. Soo soo many things you say are true! I would read, nod my head, chuckle, and think, Too bad we don't live in the same country! We would totally bond over mommy stories. ;)
I hope you find more time to write and especially not give up on here. I'm not on as much anymore because being a mom yourself, you would understand how challenging it is to find balance in life.
So when life calms down somewhat (and I can dedicate more time on Steemit), I hope to see you writing still!!
Btw, not sure if you know @davemccoy. I submitted your post to his post below so he can help boost this one. He is also one of the good people on here, always helping others. Our support is small since we're both small, but we try to help with what little bit we can. :)

Yeah. It's too bad we live in different parts of the world cause we would have totally hit it off right away. :) I'll try to stick with Steemit for as long as I can. Hopefully, till I'm old and gray (but still fabulous.) :p
Oh yes. @davemccoy, an all-around nice guy who goes out of his way helping newbies. I know him. Been seeing him around and his programs for helping newbies. All of you guys behind the @newbieresteemday and @newbiegames initiatives are amazing folks.
Just hang in there @chineyes! I know you got what it takes! You've been writing wonderfully.

You're welcome! I'm glad you met us too... The thing that most people don't realize is that we are all still really early, so we are a smaller group than many think... That's why we need to network and connect to each other, its how we can build our strength together as we all grow together! :)
Ah that's nice indeed. I'm still here but I am not as active and happy as I used to be. I went back to writing more at the other site.
No more expecting here because I am so over Steemit now. Hahaha. (bitterness Lol.)
