If I think about beads I think about the short story of 'Jip and Janneke'. Two neighbour kids about 4 years old, always playing together (no school at that time for 4 years old). One of their daily adventures was a bead in Jip's nose... he was bored to make a necklace so thought out something else to do with it.

These short stories were written by Annie M.G. Schmidt. Many children grew up with it.
