This looks like a great recipe for a Thyme & Lavender Herbal Salve by @walkerland. I have been meaning to make a homemade herbal salve, and didn't realize it was so simple!

I also agree with the sentiment that it is not only more sustainable to use plants grown in our own backyard, but that they are also more potent and retain an indefinable part of their quintessential essence.
