Coronavirus (COVID-19) - Our Response

At the British Council, the health and safety of all our visitors, staff, partners and the communities in which we operate is our top priority. As the coronavirus situation is evolving in Bangladesh, the British Council supports and cooperates with government agencies to ensure the continued well-being of all those with whom we are involved, with proper measures and support needed by government agencies.

So, to help reduce the prevalence of COVID-19, we are postponing regular face-to-face public courses and classes at all our centers until April 14, 2020. Public access to our libraries, cultural centers, and office services in Dhaka, Chatrogram, and Sylhet will also be suspended at this time. Our (digital library) offers access to thousands of books, magazines, movies, music, and newspapers that you can sign up for here (https: //www.britishcou pride.org.bd/en/english/library/become-members) and free Online resources and study options (at https://learnenglish.britishcouela.org/) are available to everyone.

IELTS exam canceled

March 28, 2021 - All examinations scheduled for paper-based and computer-provided IELTS exams have been canceled in Bangladesh. We sincerely apologize for the difficulties our examiners have suffered for our illness, we who know we have been working so hard to prepare for the exam. Cambridge International and Pearson test cancellation:

In light of the outbreak of COVID-1, we are aware of the latest announcement by Cambridge International not to conduct international tests in the latest May / June 2012 series. Similarly, Pearson also announced that they will not hold any general qualification tests around the world in May and June 2021.

We recognize how challenging this is for students and teachers, and how hard the students have been working towards these tests. We are closely consulting with Cambridge International and Pearson on further guidance and will soon share more information with our schools and examiners
