GC: What was your reaction to finding out that you had been nominated for this award?

Astrokerrie: I was surprised because I didn’t know that there was going to be a cosplay category [in the AGAs]. It’s really lovely to see that so many people thought I deserved that title. It’s a pretty awesome feeling.

GC: You’re the Ambassador for Epic Armoury Australia. What responsibilities come with this role?

Astrokerrie: Epic Armoury Australia is a live action role play (LARP) provider. What that involves is taking a game and acting it out in real life. So, let’s say if you’ve watched Lord of the Rings and thought ‘I would love to be in that army’. People dress up and then [play out these scenes]. Epic Armoury Australia provides armour, special effect make up and everything else that you would need to make your character. As their Ambassador, I show people how they can use their products to transform themselves into characters.

GC: You were the official Widowmaker cosplayer for the 2017 Overwatch World Cup group stage in Sydney. What can you tell us about this?

Astrokerrie: A bunch of competitors from across the world came to Sydney ahead of the finals at BlizzCon in the USA. Blizzard hired around nine cosplayers to promote this event. I was their Widowmaker for that event so I created the whole costume for them, attended the event, interacted with the crowd and got on stage between games. The cosplayers were there to hype the crowd and make the event that little bit more special.

GC: Is there anything that you would like to say?

Astrokerrie: I recently moved to Melbourne and a big part of that [decision] was to be part of the community, particularly the eSports scene. I’ve had a lot of fun working at these events so I’m extremely honoured and excited to be recognised at the AGAs and I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who nominated me.
