The Nines is a Soul Map that came to me through challenging life experiences as I discovered my passions in life & followed my heart. It is intended to inspire deeper reflection of our Soul path, to be true to ourselves, and live an extraordinary life.

Once Courage is in play, by deciding to make that choice we knew we had to make, and Asked for what we need along the way, our shift may create a Triggerfestivus :) Besides being the number 3 of The Nines, we all know what #Triggers are, right?

Triggers are curious things, and one of our best teachers in life. They are reactions we have to something someone says to us, something we read or see that makes us FEEL a deep emotion, or something that happens in our lives causing us to lash out, create drama, or be invited into it. They come in a variety of ways. Sometimes they show us a mirror, sometimes they inspire empathy, sometimes they piss us off, make us want to cry. Or all of the above.

The trick is to recognize them, and allow ourselves to move through them. I’ve noticed two responses when it comes to being triggered:

Sometimes I feel “triggered” and it’s not about me, I’m feeling someone else’s trigger. It’s an empathic response.

Then there are times when I know I am triggered to the moon. That’s when my body heats up, either out of embarrassment, anger, or sadness.

Either one “triggers” a physical/emotional response. Most of us are good at covering them up with sarcasm, addictions, or distracting the conversation elsewhere. It’s an art form of awareness to know how they work in our lives.

The wonderful thing about triggers is that they push us to grow by giving us the opportunity to be real with ourselves. Because ultimately, the learning is FOR us, not against us. It’s all about revealing our deepest compassion for ourselves, and others.

There was a point in my life post 2012 where I was involved within a handful of groups, making new friends, trying new creative hats on. After being on my own in the healing arts world for many years, I was seeking my next career or inspiration in life. Open, vulnerable, and willing to learn...I would try anything I felt capable of.

It was an exciting time! Yet it got messy. That part wasn’t fun. My heart was hurt, as I was the object of much projectile vomiting. As it were, none of these endeavors lasted for me. It was a whirlwind of experiences that shaped my destiny. I am so grateful for it all. Some of my best teachers were in that part of my life.

The gift of that triggerfest is that I honed my bullshit meter & learned to set boundaries. I realized how powerful & wise I am inside. I stood up for myself. It could have been easy to blame others, and continue the fear & blame game. But I have better things to do ♥

Triggers don’t happen much in my world these days. I notice they tend to be more about others projections than a personal boundary I need to set. Over time & experience, I learned to take what’s mine, grow from it, and carry on.

As an empath & intuitive, I move energy for others. We all do. Empathy is a gift I’ve learned to hone. The good news is...it gets easier. The trick is to focus on our own learning, and leave others’ paths up to them.

There’s wisdom in that.

I appreciate your insight and willingness to learn from something that's often seen as a negative thing! Your idea of learning and growing from our triggers is inspiring :)

Thank you SO much for the feature & appreciation @nateonsteemit ♥ I love your marketplace...you are doing amazing things. My admiration is endless!

That hit the spot for me. I had an amazing conversation around a fire with some friends last night. This beginning breakdown of triggers feels so complimentary to the night. Thank you!

Nothing like great conversations around a fire with friends @buttcoins ♥ We're in this shit together...lol...and you're so welcome! Thank you for reading :)

Such an insightful sharing Liza.

Ultimately, the learning is FOR us, not against us.

Often I find a 'trigger' reaction will let fly when I'm most vulnerable within myself. When I'm not 100% ~ Even just a small cold will lower my physical and emotional stamina ~ So that I'm more affected by someone's else's comment/look etc. I've found at these times, it's essential to remain calm/even passive until the energy is there again to know how to respond/as opposed to a 'knee jerk' reaction.

Often the 'trigger' is just that ~ Something that pushes a button ~ However I know now that 'that button' is only skimming the surface of what needs to be seen. ♥︎♥︎⚖️♥︎♥︎

So true, @allyinspirit When I'm most vulnerable is when the triggers hit the fan 🙂 Realizing the difference between a reaction & response is so valuable to learn within ♥
