Rizal Parks Visitors Center

In celebration of National Childrens’ Month, Creative Street dedicates this exhibit to the Filipino children who have stories to tell and colorful minds to be discovered. The theme “KWENTO AT KULAY” revolves around how artists can influence the children through visual artworks to express their feelings and stories. The artworks presented in the exhibit were grouped into five section namely :

  1. Linya at Kulay (Lines and Colors)
  2. Ang Buhay sa Paligid (The Life Around Us)
  3. Ang Mundo at ang Kalawakan (The Earth and The Space), 4. Pakiramdam (Emotions) and
  4. Pangarap (Dreams)

Linya at Kulay depicts how a simple line and colors can create a kaleidoscopic scenery. This symbolizes the young minds of the children since the artworks in this section were made by our students from Laura Vicuña Foundation and Kids from General Trias, Cavite.

Ang Buhay sa Paligid shows that in there’s always a story in everything around us no matter how small or big that thing is. This aims to teach the children to appreciate every little thing.

Ang Mundo at Ang Kalawakan shows the sceneries of the earth and how each landscape and skyscape can inspire the imagination of the children.

Pakiramdam is designed to let the children know that it’s okay to express their feelings and emotions and each of us is capable of feeling things.

And lastly, Pangarap shows the vast creativity and imagination of the children.

It has been 30 years since the global leaders made a commitment to make our world a safer place to all children. Despite this, there is much work to do. Globally, as much as 262 million of children are deprived of education, almost a billion children experience abuse, neglect, and violence. In a society where oppression still grips the vulnerable sectors, where does art stands?
Art is, of course, a product of pent up emotions. It is a construct, both in a literal and imagined sense. a reflection of how we see and how we imagine the world. Our commitment for a safer world means weaponizing art to present an imagined world where no children are left behind.
In “ Kwento at Kulay ”, we materialized these collective visons. For it is when lines are drawn to tell the world that one child without access to proper education is too much; or when we have used every color to make brightspots for all neglected children can we achieve these aspirations. These are the stories we wanted to tell over and over again until it becomes true.
