Ranga Herath received the Guard of Honor from team-mates when the fielding took place on the previous day. Joe Root-led English cricketer also shared the same honor when he went on to bat in the last match of the successful left-arm bowler's career in Test history.
That means, after returning to England on the morning of the second day of the Galle Test, Herath was the last batsman to go to bat. The way, before the lunch break, Sri Lanka lost four wickets, then 9 wickets by 175 runs. Even then, in the first innings, the hosts passed 200 runs in the last wicket for a valuable 28 runs. Herath went on to score and scored 14 runs in 16 balls and he was unbeatable. In reply, England were 38 for no loss in the second innings and they were led by 177 runs.
