OPP WiFi: Potential Use Cases
OPP open wi-fi is a really cool project, that is creating a decentralized wi-fi network, available to everyone around the world. They are allowing individuals to lease or sell their excess bandwidth, using a decentralized network running on the blockchain, so that individuals can then by that Wi-Fi access.
The opp open wi-fi project is providing routers to individuals who want to sell their excess, and they are planning to roll out their Network later on this year.
This is a really interesting project because it's going to allow individuals to create a large-scale, decentralized Wi-Fi network, using only excess bandwidth from their traditional home networks. This will give people access to Wi-Fi in areas that were previously not accessible.
The potential use cases of this are rather expensive. We all know what it's like to move to a new place and to open up our Wi-Fi browser just to see the tens or hundreds of Wi-Fi networks nearby. Why do we all need to pay for internet if everyone has Wi-Fi? What if we all had access to this OPP open wi-fi network, and then we could just rent or lease as much Wi-Fi as we needed.
Users who wanted to pay for fast access or high-bandwidth could then become notes for the network, and then other users could pay just as much as they wanted to see at the bandwidth that they needed. Since this is running on a blockchain, micropayments will be accessible and this will allow individuals to buy as much or as little Wi-Fi as they want to, without having to worry about expensive fees.
This could really change how the world exists. No longer would we all have to pay for bloated, expensive and underpowered internet plans. One individual in each area could pay for the highest bandwidth possible and then they could distribute it to the individuals around them, using cryptocurrency micropayments to create the transactions.
This is one project that we're actually really interested in. They're creating a super powerful network. Internet access and Wi-Fi is something that we all use on a regular basis, and we all know well how frustrating it can be when we don't have access to Internet. This is a great way to increase the availability of internet access for people all around the world, as well as allowing individuals to earn revenue by releasing their extra band with other people.
The OPP open wi-fi network is planning on going live later on this year, with the shipping of their routers beginning at the end of 2018 and continuing into 2019. They are going to be expanding as quickly as possible and hopefully they will have a substantial, large bread Network by the end of 2019. I am personally really excited about this project and hope that it exceeds expectations.
