Small Steps for the Blockchains...

We witness these days to the final week of the World Cup of Football. Whether you love it, hate it or are indifferent to it (huh?), this is a mass phenomenon. And so are other sports events. Some are more nichy than others, but their fans are just as involved, or maybe even more.

Before I start, allow me to give some context for non-Europeans. I'll get to the crypto part in a minute. Eurosport is a big sports channel in Europe. Among other things, it has exclusivity for all Tennis Grand Glams in many European countries (except UK which has a strong sports pay-per-view channel, I believe). That's a big market for advertisers.

With this in mind, I've seen some ads on Eurosport that are relevant to blockchains and crypto land.

Without insisting on it, I've seen ads for eToro, a social media trading platform with a strong online advertising presence, but not offline (at least not so visible) so far. Their connection with the crypto world is that on their platform you can open both long and short positions on certain top cryptos, and, as far as I know they have some interesting plans to extend in the USA and to add real crypto wallets to their portfolio of products.

The other advertisement I've seen came as a surprise, because it is blockchain-based (actually multi-chain, both public and private), but I haven't heard of it yet. Not that I should've heard of it, it was a surprise to be the first project related to blockchains that is promoted hard offline to the masses that I know of.

The project is called HDAC Technology (hdactech.com) and in a sentence, it is a blockchain-based platform backed by Hyundai which will allow IoT devices to communicate with one another, handling identity, authentication, data storage, and payments. There are many applications to the IoT, so this thing alone is interesting.

From their home page, it looks like the last completed phase of the project was named "Hdac Operating Environment", but there are still many other elements on the roadmap in progress before it could be a functional platform. Which makes me wonder why is this short advertising clip airing on Eurosport. Well, maybe I'm missing something...

If someone knows more about this project, I'm curious about it, since there is obviously a big advertising budget for it.

Are we slowly moving toward mass adoption? If so, corporate money seem to be their steem (pun intended).

Funny you mention ads for blockchain and crypto...They are starting to pop up a lot more these days on TV here.

Mass adoption will only happen though, when it becomes 'easy' for the everyday person to actually use and acquire tokens and coins....Blockchain is coming for sure...Crypto needs to let some 'marketers' at it to rebrand the projects and keep it simple for the masses LOL

Yeah, I agree about the relation between mass adoption and ease-of-use. I jumped the gun a bit, seeing the ads on TV, but probably it's the time when more corporate / big money investors will take crypto world seriously and that will show in its evolution. Perhaps the end of the romantic stage of blockchains soon...
