Aragon‏ @AragonProject
Aragon Monthly Issue 08 is out!
Monthly is a aggregated source of news for the #Ethereum community members who are interested in #DAOs, #governance and the Aragon ecosystem.
We welcome everyone to submit news, articles and classified ads! https://blog.aragon.org/aragon-monthly-issue-08-is-out/

Andrew Cronk‏ @ajcronk
Who is doing Gusto-style payroll in Ethereum or Bitcoin?

      Paul Cowgill‏ @paulcowgill
One of the Aragon apps is somewhat like that now, and it could evolve into exactly that. wiki.aragon.org/dev/apps/finance/ …

I’m using it right now on Rinkeby via a working (and beautiful) front end. It supports ERC20 payments from the org which could include a stable coin. There’s no recurring payment feature live yet, though.

      Disruption Joe‏ @DisruptionJoe
Everything I see from @AragonProject is cool. They just keep delivering.

CarlosGonzálezJuárez‏ @Carlos_molotov
Court Simulator by @AragonProject --> https://github.com/aragonlabs/court-sim … Very interesting the role that DAO's can play in disputes resolution

DAOstack‏ @daostack
Instead of providing one #governance protocol, #DAOstack provides a library of schemes and constraints that an organization can choose from according to its need.
https://github.com/daostack

Bo‏ @bohendo
@shivhendo and I had a great time building with the @daostack hacker kit @ETHBerlin, it makes it possible to build some pretty cool stuff in as little as 36 hours
Here's a cool intro plus a look at the projects that have been built with it so far: https://medium.com/daostack/daostack-update-hackers-kit-is-live-introducing-our-bounty-winners-from-ethberlin-genesis-f92524492e55

DASH‏ @Dashpay
We are excited to announce our new partnership with @Bitbns, one of the leading exchanges in #India! For a limited time transact in $Dash for no fees on the #Bitbns platform!

      Mark Mason‏ @StayDashy
This is #DASH-tastic news. Welcome @bitbns & India to @Dashpay. No fees on $Dash transactions for a limited time at http://bitbns.com is also a great way to on-board new users & encourage adoption. Take back control & become your own bank!

Gustavo Enrique Nuñez Leyba‏ @Gustavoenl
Here is your evidence! DASH is being used in 1510 merchants across the country, proof here @StayDashy @Dashpay @alecheverria93 I’m from Venezuela I have BASE to talk so don’t deny it. Very powerful impact giving a choice for store of value rather than the depreciating bolivar.

Jared Whitney‏ @JWhitSoccer
Cancelling my @PayPal and @venmo account. I'll just use @Dashpay or Bitcoin. I originally thought cryptos were great to counter the monetary policy of the Federal Reserve. Now it's great to counter censorship.

EOS Canada‏ @EOS_Canada
On the way to the #EOSHackathon, EOS Canada is proud to announce the official release of eosc v1.0.0 ! The most flexible & powerful command line tool for any developer to interact with an #EOSIO chain https://github.com/eoscanada/eosc/releases

Alex Woodard‏ @Crypto_Alex17
Top 5 DAPPS on $ETH vs Top 5 DAPPS on $EOS
It looks like #EOS has taken a healthy slice of the "decentralized enough" niche. They know their target audience and where that audience falls on the decentralized to high through put trade off.
@EOS_io is here to stay.

Steve Randy Waldman‏ @interfluidity
Custodial stablecoins (backed 1:1 by the asset they peg and credibly audited) are perfectly viable as a matter of economics, as @B_Eichengreen tacitly acknowledges. A lack of imagin8n for legitimate uses of programmable money does not render it “unviable”.
https://www.project-syndicate.org/commentary/stable-coins-unviable-cryptocurrencies-by-barry-eichengreen-2018-09

Also, @B_Eichengreen fails to consider the most interesting class of stablecoins with a collateral mismatch, stablecoins overcollateralized with volatile crypto. The most prominent example is @MakerDAO’s DAI. These are genuinely risky (“gap risk”, liquidity risk, and operating

risk that might render prompt liquidation difficult could break them), but also genuinely interesting, a crypto application of lessons learned from managing equity margin and the credit risk of central counterparties.

Scrypt.Media‏ @ScryptMedia
Great initiative from @ConsenSys @MakerDAO and @optiMizeMI to 'empower Students to Use Blockchain for Social Good"

Gilded‏ @GildedFinance
Coming soon from Gilded: $DAI invoicing powered @RequestNetwork and @MakerDAO. Get paid in crypto while saying goodbye to volatility. Living the #stablecoin dream.

security__token‏ @security__token
Swarm Joins The OpenFinance Network (OFN) Bringing Its Tokenized Securities To The OFN Platform

Indeema Software‏ @IndeemaSoftware
How a #decentralized, transparent #DAO making decisions using #prediction markets could create more efficient democratic systems. Worth watching for those who are involved in the #DLT #governance issues.

The Crypto Dog‏ @TheCryptoDog
Zoom out on $EOS. HOLY CRAP what an amazing looking set up. So much room for growth and we're only just at the very beginning.

Luke Martin‏ @VentureCoinist
Finally $TRX gets it's big pop taking (almost) the top spot. It's going to be hard for any alt to pass ripple in the pump category this week

Gat The Standard [Chief Liquidator at Tron Inc.]‏ @CryptoGat
Idex bags are essentially trading $ETH on high leverage right now
my favorites are $SS $EVE $LGO $ATMI $SNTR
Def think you should DYOR on these, they are my top picks tho after digging.

CryptoMedication‏ @ProofofResearch
Dow Jones, S&P 500, and NASDAQ performing dangerously well...and this is headed into the most volatile month of the year.

Should be interesting to see how all markets perform in October.
That will set the tone for the next few months following it.

Looks like stablecoins are becoming the latest craze in crypto...
DaoCoin is not a stablecoin, however, it offers the infrastructure to produce stablecoins. More importantly, it produces a stablecoin that addresses the transparency and efficiency issues of existing stabecoins (such as USDT and Dai).

Happy for XRP holders. Hope everyone is aware that the PNC's use of Ripple has nothing to do with XRP and its blockchain...would be nice if Ripple eventually does something with its xrp as well, maybe call it is a share of Ripple network or whatever, but as of now, I don't see any connection other than being a brand name.

Youtube is a great place to start if you’re trying to learn more about Bitcoin and Crypto.

However, you may find yourself questioning where to start with the vast amount of channels out there. You might be familiar with all the major Youtube Crypto channels and podcasts but it is known the majority hide their lack of meaningful content with clickbait titles and paid sponsorship’s.

Well, that was fast. The FRAGO I posted three days ago was for XRP, so here's a quick glimpse of how it can pay to be a part of The Watchers Crypto Brief. Most people thought I was crazy to claim XRP at 0.00010 ... yeah, crazy like a fox. Note, I also mentioned this in Tuesday's webinar with Chase, Zak and Ty ... it pays to show up to those, too.

Last year, I warned people that I had said "I told you so" once about XRP and that it was inevitable that I would get to say it again. Well, "I told you so". Below are excerpts from the FRAGO.

You can keep licking your wounds or you can go on the offensive with us. I have another pick that I think I can do better on this fall than XRP.

Get access and gain a competitive advantage - https://www.watchersbrief.com
This is just a small sample of what our Brief members get …

_________UNCLASSIFIED_______

#FRAGO #XRP
DISCLAIMER: This was going to go in the Brief, but alas ... it may be more timely to publish now, but DYOR and be safe out there.

For anyone who has known me since last summer, it should come as no surprise that I love patterns! In no way should this be considered investment advice, but rather my way of entertaining myself. As you may recall, my favorite pattern producer last year was XRP ... I think folks following my calls made money three times in a row following an almost eerie pattern I kept seeing. Well, I've been waiting for another pattern to complete for about 9 months and today was the day.

Before I go any further, let me be clear: IF YOU DON'T HAVE MONEY TO BURN, YOU SHOULD NOT BE PLAYING WITH ALTS ... WHEN BTC WAKES UP, ALTS BLEED!! WHEN BTC THROWS UP ALL OVER ITSELF, ALTS BLEED!! THE REAL ALT PARTY WON'T HAPPEN UNTIL AFTER THE NEXT BTC RUN.

Anyhoo, I get bored waiting for BTC to do something, so I entertain myself with theories and patterns. As a recap, XRP is a no-brainer for me ... it's backed by the Silicon Valley elite, it has a real company executing its go-to-market strategy and it has more real partnerships than any other cryptocurrency by a mile. All the bullshit you hear about XRP is total fucking nonsense perpetuated by people who have never gotten within spitting distance of the institutional investor / banking big boy table that makes the world go 'round. However, I still invest just as heavily in XLM because I never let ego get in the way of profit.

So here we are, the final piece to my pattern was a 20% green candle. However, we should be cautious in case this is just manipulation (e.g. ETH also made a surprise move today) ... but, if we're being optimistic, what could be causing this?

  • the pending launch of xRapid
  • XRP was oversold AF
  • the launch of MoneyTap in Japan
  • Saudi Arabia’s National Commercial Bank (NCB) adoption confirmed

Honestly, I don't really care. Remember, much of crypto is tied to mass psychology. I've said it once and I'll say it again, as Asia goes so goes crypto. And guess what? Asia loves XRP!

However, to be safe, you may wait a beat to see if there is a dump (e.g. it's still morning in Asia). XRP is a long-hold, massive accumulation for me, so again ... I don't really care. I'm actually shocked there wasn't an immediate dump after XRP sky-rocketed to almost 0.000053

My Buy-In Range: 0.000040 - 0.000050
Greedy Little Savages Profit Target: 0.00006
My Actual First Target: 0.00010

PS: The title of my silly picture was BTC-XRP Pattern (Gang, Gang, Gang) ... hehe, crypto is fun!

      Nicole Rainey
Just a quick look at the charts and the RSI is insane on both the 4h and the daily now! Time to take profits & wait to buy in lower

      Jaspar Snyder
I'm glad I picked up XRP last time it was at $.25. No way this one isnt going back up to $1-$2

Dont fomo, BTC looks to be trying to cool off a little bit.

Watch for support.

The next few weeks or two so will be definitive in the longer term future of the market.

Worth noting, XRP rallies like this have preceded a larger move in Bitcoin in the past.

When setting up a node and adding the configuration line to masternode.conf, I've heard rumor that it's possible to append a receiving address after the output index and the masternode rewards will be direct to that address. Is there any truth to this?

Not yet.
This will be possible with Deterministic Masternode Lists among many other cool things, like delegating your vote and node operation authority through new distinct keys without control over the collateral.

Evolution's Ease of Use Will be a Game Changer
by TrustThyself

Ever the sharp wordsmith, Amanda B. Johnson a couple/few years back noted that it's a misnomer to refer to Dash or any blockchain-based tokens as "digital currency" because they're simply not widely used as currency. Yet.

As many readers of this subreddit know, Dash Evolution is slated to be released in 2018, which seeks to position Dash as the first user-friendly digital currency. I just came across the passage below, penned by Andrew J. Galambos, which underscores the implications of this new technology. I wanted to share it as food for thought:

“How do you get people, in general, to respond to things that they don't know about? Only through explaining to them the benefits, not the theoretical and conceptual understanding of what is involved. Most people won't listen to a long argument of what it means. You can imagine how disastrous the experience of a television salesman would be if he tried to sell television sets to his customers by explaining Maxwell's equations. He would not succeed. He has to tell them the benefits of the particular set from the standpoint of the programs, and the fidelity of the screen, and the fidelity of the sound and the quality of the furniture in which it is encased, and so forth. All this sells the set, not how it works. Another thing that sells it is how easy it is to operate — fewer dials to twiddle. That also sells. How easy it is to operate, not how hard it is to understand how it works. Incidentally, the more thinking there is in the creation of the product, the easier it is to sell it, because it becomes easier to operate.”

I'm eager for the release of Evolution and it's real-world usage! In the meantime, I'll be channeling good vibes to the developers, quality assurance folks, and everyone else making it happen.

why is the volume on eos always so high?
by __ello

currently about 20% of market cap, for any other coin this would signal a massive bull run, for eos it's just standard. why?

      CeeboWX
EOS is listed on many exchanges. Bots are arbitraging the price variance between them, it’s not actual retail buying/selling.

      littleboy0k
Since EOS has low fees, bots can afford to do it more often.

      hellflur
EOS has no fees. Most exchanges have fees, which are relatively high IMO (~0.1-0.2%)

EOS Pixels profits
by roxor45

I’ve recently been in EOS Asia telegram group and from what they said, they dapp could be a lot profitable

Katie and Joe of EOS Asia yesterday explained more or less how it will work, basically there will be a canvas of 1000x1000 pixels and every blank pixel will cost 0.05 EOS.

Every pixel that we buy it’s a share in the canvas, so I suppose that the more we buy the more shares we’ll get and Joe said that if another user buy our pixels than “you're 100% going to receive a higher price than what you paid”!

And it seems like there will also a prize of 5.000 EOS for the last user that draw on the canvas?? As someone said in the telegram group, it seems like a FOMO game with art, I’m pretty excited for it lol

I have a few EOS at the moment and I would like to invest them in something that could be profitable…

What do you guys think? Could this dapp be successful? I’d like to draw something as soon as possible…

How can DAI be used as a settlement layer if the price isn't perfectly stable?
by IAmAStableCoin

In order for DAI to be used as a settlement layer wouldn't the price have to fully pegged rather than only soft pegged?

Lets say a user of tradeshift wants to be paid for their receivables but the price of DAI drops a few cents then they lose a few percent of their revenue which is surely unnacceptable. How is it possible that this can happen?

      Davidahoffman
If/when that happens, there will likely be much more DAI in circulation. General adoption of DAI, growth of DAI supply, and increased DAI liquidity will all increase the stability of the price.

      IAmAStableCoin
It already is happening:
https://medium.com/makerdao/tradeshift-and-makerdao-leverage-blockchain-to-democratize-access-to-financing-for-worlds-small-98076fd05f86

But even with increased liquidity adoption and supply the price still won't be perfectly stable. So what happens when Tradeshift users have to take a haircut on their revenue? That's what I'm trying to understand

Being a cryptocurrency, is moving to dai considered a taxable event?
by ebwvibfhwbovchwdshjd

To my understanding, and as weird as it sounds (especially to crypto traders), a liquidation of a token (whatever it is) is considered a taxable event (even if U plan on just timing the market and re-enter).

Dai is a cryptocurrency.
Same applies?

      ChazSchmidt
The simplest way to imagine taxes from a US perspective is to imagine you sell to USD and use that cash to buy the new coin. You take the capital gain or loss leaving the old coin and you have a new cost basis for the new coin.

Correct. This applies to DAI. You'd take the gain or loss from the old coin and the cost basis of DAI is practically negligible because the price shouldn't change from your original cost basis.

      mrpez1
Selling crypto to buy DAI is taxable but minting DAI with a CDP is not. The second is like taking out a loan.

What is driving Ripple's (XRP) now 55% rally!?
by QuantalyticsResearch

XRP is up 55% (and still climbing) on the day and 102% on the week. What is driving this breakout? Of course, Ripple's Sagar Sarbhai hinted on CNBC that their xRapid protocol may launch in the next month and PNC Bank announced it will begin to use Ripple's xCurrent to make international payments, but both of these occurred earlier in the week. What do you think could have sparked XRP's breakout that started at 7PM last night!? Just a general breakout in cryptos?

      Neoatomium
My 2 guesses

  1. FOMO
I already feel it myself. Yesterday I saw +25% "Wow, too bad I missed the train but it's too late to jumped in, I already fomo'ed so many times and got f*** the next day"

2h later
"fuuuu +40% !!!"
2h later - price drop by 10%
"ahah I was right not to fomo"
12h later and another +25%
"fuck, I really should have fomo this time"

I'm still not on the board (I'm on the XLM train in fact so I'm still fine) but my guess is that because we all expected a correction that never came, people started to hop on the bandwagon hoping this will continue a bit, thus feeding this rally

  1. Shorts
Just check on bitmex rekt twitter, shorts on XRP are all being shattered, driving the price up, shattering more shorts, etc. (snowball effect)
  2. Some news unknown to me
Maybe they're bigger news I missed and the impact is way larger than I imagined

Lightninghead
yeah, mainly 1) and 2) I would guess. Some extra help from a hint about xrapid coming soon and more big banks on board with xCurrent could have sparked it.

I'd also add that XRP bled out a bit more than others near the top during this bear market, so people who were interested in it but got out jumped back in faster seeing the rise again and news that xRapid is nearing. Gonna be interesting to see if it settles around $0.50 because of this (or plummets, or carries on mooning due to FOMO on top of FOMO, fook knows)

Dai and CDP Hackathon Projects
MakerDAO

Over the past two weekends, the Maker team was involved in three hackathons: EthBerlin, Wyohackathon, and Whacked Blocks in Warsaw. 14 teams submitted a Dai-related project, and a short description of them and devpost links are below. In total, these teams won over 9,000 Dai!

Wyohackathon Submissions:

Token Subscription

Content publishers deploy a smart contract on Ethereum with parameters for a subscription including destination address, token address, token amount, and period of recurrence. The publisher then supplies a link to the subscriber that is presented with the terms of the subscription to sign an off-chain meta transaction that is replayed on the defined period. The subscriber controls the flow of the tokens (starting, stopping, pausing, etc) using the ERC20 standard approve() function.

DAI on Matic Network
Siddharth Jain

Maker’s DAI will be the first stablecoin on Matic mainnet

We are excited to announce that MakerDao’s DAI will be the first ERC-20 token to be integrated with the Matic sidechains when the network launches its mainnet.

Why DAI?

Dai is one of the most transparent and reliable stablecoins in the ecosystem, has withstood the test for time and as compared to its other competitors, is truly decentralized in nature.

CDPs that provide the collateral for Dai are entirely on-chain, and no counterparty needs to be trusted.

Why DAI on Matic?

Is Banking Ready to Adopt Blockchain?
genEOS Official
Understanding the crucial role of blockchain for cost-effective automation of business workflows, we believe that this technology can reshape banking forever.

Param Vir Singh, Carnegie Bosch associate professor of business technologies at Carnegie Mellon University, asserted: “Some of [banks] have already started forming consortiums where they are testing out use of blockchain for inter-bank transfers. I think the key applications would be in the space of payments and fraud reduction.” So, let’s analyze if and how blockchain can enhance the spheres pinpointed by Singh.

An Overview of Proxy Voting on EOS
Aurora EOS

One of the most important and underrated features of the EOS governance process is the use of proxy voting. This post will explain the role of proxy voters within the EOS ecosystem to encourage their use by a wider range of token holders.

What is a Proxy?

Liquid democracy, or delegative democracy, is a form of governance where individuals can lend their voting power to other individuals who vote on their behalf. One of the most useful features of blockchain technology is that we can design a system that allows this delegation process to take place transparently and trustlessly on-chain.

In the EOSIO software, proxies are accounts that participate in governance using voting power from other users. Proxies register specifically to offer other users the ability to delegate their voting power to the proxy account. These proxy accounts then vote for block producers and other referenda, using the combined voting power of every individual user that has delegated its voting power to the proxy. This process is completely transparent: All proxy-user relationships are logged on-chain and are publicly auditable. All of the proxy’s voting activity is transparent. Even more importantly, however, this process is trustless. Users can delegate their voting power to a proxy without giving the proxy any control over their private keys or account. The proxy only receives the ability to direct the user’s voting power toward block producers and other voting initiatives, but the user can revoke their voting power from the proxy at any time.
