Polish authorities arrest CEO Crypto Capital on suspicion of money laundering

It was the payment service of Crypto Capital that was supposedly entrusted by the exchange with $850 million, after which it lost access to them and used the reserves of its sister company Tether to compensate for the loss.

Earlier, the Polish Ministry of Justice blocked the bank accounts of Crypto SP. Z O.O. withdrew $350 million, allegedly owned by it and NESP SP. Z O.O., which in turn may be linked to Crypto Capital and the detainee, testifies to several financial documents. The seizure of funds was carried out as part of a Polish law enforcement operation to suppress money laundering by a Colombian drug cartel through the cryptocurrency exchange.

According to Decrypt, Crypto Capital's payment services were also used by several other major exchanges, including Binance, Kraken and BitMEX.

Earlier this week it became known that Bitfinex asked to subpoena Rondell Clyde Monroe, a former vice president of TCA Bancorp, allegedly linked to Crypto Capital, to testify.
