#2873 was rescued from a dingy, shadow filled pock mark on 2017 and brought on board the Etherian spaceship in a warm glow of reflected moon light.

He began life nameless. A dispassionate SKU of characters, which pulled his nuclei into existence. Though it was his only identifier, the number 2873 failed to tell him or anyone a thing about who he was. A pale, almost colorless pixel, coldly huddled on the underside of a shallow moon crater. He spent precessions listening to the sounds around him. While his pixels replicated and he grew his tell tail pout and pure pale chartreuse color, the noises of a busy moon buzzed above his head. The hum of Gas Harvesters. the whir-whirrr of Validators. But the sound which spurred his little heart the most was the melodious vibrations of the rescue rover. The Ether Cast Rescue Rover was a vehicle of near mystic origins. It would roam the moonscape, crowd-driven by a cast of early adventurers. The first among a timid species to explore the bounties this digital moon had to offer.

Among the spacious underground huddle of young mooncats, there were theories on how the Rescue Rover bestowed its bounty. The soft red glow as the belly hatch opened and a retractable cat bed descended through a crater . The bed sliding opening to rescue its selected target. A plush, lotus shaped space bed, cleverly tuned to vibrate at 25 hertz. The lowest and most soothing output of any feline. This warming light and attuned rescue bed so far had an invariable success rate - not a mooncat existed who could resist the pull of the rescue bed.

Where we join our pale adventurer however, there are many earths to pass before he will be rescued by the Etherians. It is said that the most common first memory of a mooncat is the feeling of falling down a dark tunnel. Not so much a memory as an imprint. A traumatic whisp that remains in the subconscious as a leftover from moon birth. Most educated felines pontificate on the meaning of this dream, and arrive at a common consensus - that this dream signifies the moment of conception and the tunnel is their own mystic path to their first moon crater. But every so often there is an exceptionally wise mooncat. A natural with the yarn. A cat since the cradle. One with more blocks and resources to devote to the savoury science of theorizing. A cat such as this might arrive at a different conclusion. Perhaps the tunnel is in fact the Ether. And through the endless time tube they fall, until their code is plucked off the the chain of the all-creating Ether.

For #2873, when his pixel blinked into existence outside the time tube, he was snuggled up on the underside of crater Tom Jones. Of course, #2873 did not know his crater was named Tom Jones. It was named on earth, by an Etherian scientist. All he knew was that it was warm and conical. Smooth enough for a comfy mid lune nap, and pockmarked just enough to let cooling bits of space in and around his fur. So while his pixels replicated and expanded, he sat and pondered. To Ponder where he had come from and whence he may go.
