Flixxo – Rewards for video sharing
Just recently Federico Abad who is the creator of Popcorn Time [1] has joined a team to release a new video sharing platform called Flixxo that rewards creators, viewers and seeders with cryptocurrency called Flixx.
Popcorn Time allows anyone to watch videos and TV series online. The reason why this looks like a good investment is because everyone enjoys watching movies and making short clips. Just look at YouTube, Pirate Bay, FaceBook and other media sharing platforms. Hence there is demand for the service.
The second reason is that only 300 million Flixx tokens will be sold during the initial coin offering. I would predict this will increase as demand increases.
According to the team, Flixxo will prevent copyright movies and TV series from being shared and there will be anti-spam rules. To avoid viewers from abusing their upvoting powers. Basically the rewards given to the authors will be delayed after checking that no infringement of rules being broken by the media uploaded and that there is no disputes from viewers.
Another important point to mention, the operational cost of Flixxo is reduced due to the viewers sharing a network. Where the storage space and bandwidth of the viewers are utilized.
Clever idea, lets check if it works in future. It might be good on paper but at the end of the day the business model has to generate a profit.
