What advantage does either ETH or EOS have over Byteball?
Byteball operates on a different architecture called a DAG which is fast, and very interesting (similar to IOTA and NANO). It has some limited smart contracts capabilities but nothing as extensive as ETH or EOS have.
One problem that I feel Byteball faces compared to the others you mention, is the fact they are having difficulties garnering a real community and development. Ethereum is of course massively being developed on and EOS has a reasonably big and active community, but Byteball seems to be much more under the radar and more a 'niche' coin by comparison.
Byteball is pure DAG, whereas IOTA has POW in it.
I did not know that NANO was a DAG, but is it a pure DAG and does it have a limited final amount similar to Byteball?
What makes Byteball's smart contracts more limited than ETH and IOS?
I didn't know Byteball had no PoW, interesting. NANO does have a PoW, but it pre-loads the PoW so that transactions are pretty much instant. NANO has a limited max supply, and in fact ALL of it is circulating already.
I'm no expert at smart contracts nor Byteball, but as I understand it Byteball offers simple programming functions which I interpret as simple if -> then statements, whereas something like ETH can do more complicated things - I imagine stuff like filling an array[], and more complex loops and functions.
Do you know what the POW of NANO and IOTA are done for?
Is it a waste like in BTC and LTC (and probably XZC and ZEC), or is it done for useful purposes?
I believe Monero's POW is used to lease computing power, but I may conflate it with another currency.
Byteball has this POW option too, but it is merely an option that is subject to each individual user's judgement, and not an obligation as it is in BTC and LTC.
You can POW mine Byteball if you want by leasing your computational resources, but the entire DAG will work at least as well if no one mined Byteball through POW.
Its mining is on the expense of its undistributed quota, so this option will not remain forever as it is.
In the future, if someone will want to lease computational resources to earn Byteball, it will have to be more of a bilateral deal, a contract and will be zero sum in Byteball terms for both parties involved.
I believe NANO's PoW is mainly intended as a small cost to prevent spam attacks on the network. It is a tiny PoW but it is not used for anything useful.
I am not sure about IOTA and if/how it works. I don't think it has PoW, but i could be wrong.
Byteball is really interesting, but it really needs better marketing somehow. It's been around for so long but it doesn't seem to be able to really grab people's attention. Same is true for NANO by the way. Adoption is key..
That being said I do hold some Byteballs myself, and also IOTA and NANO :)
How did you get your IOTA and NANO?
Did you buy them, or mined them, or received them in another way?
I need recommendations about decentralized exchanges that work, and then about Exchanges that have Byteball and STEEM and do not charge too much.
I fragmented my wish to 2 different questions, and I still feel like either one of my weakened demand is still too much to ask for.
Goes to show why the digital currency market should not and probably will not skyrocket anytime soon.
If stock prices will decline further, they will become a better opportunity than digital currencies, even if still expensive, but they have been "expensive" for years, and still kept rising.
