What’s Up Steemit! As the year 2017 is about to pass I took some time to compare where we started the early months and where we are now. I saw someone on reddit posting one of the pictures blockfolio uses in the Play Store/App Store so I thought it can be interesting to use it as reference. 📈
To make this crystal-clear at the beginning, this post isn't about promoting Blockfolio in any way! Furthermore I personally prefer other apps to track my portfolio but that is something you should find out for yourself. 🔍

Comparison - Vergleich 🔛

So first of all lets have a look how that portfolio has performed so far:

Lasst uns einen Blick darauf werfen, wie sich das Portfolio bis heute entwickelt hat:

Pretty impressive growth at first view but lets do some math to get the percentage increase. We won't go with the exact figures, so

starting value was 104,790
end value 1,970,000

That gives us:

a percentage increase of 1,779%,

which is way more than i expected us to achieve this year to be honest! After a bit of research i found out this snapshot was most likely taken on Febuary 23, so not even 10 month ago!

Ein wirklich beachtlicher Anstieg auf den ersten Blick, aber um das Ganze zu verdeutlichen, lasst uns die prozentuale Steigerung berechnen. Mit den gerundeten Werten haben wir also

einen Anfangswert von 104790 und
einen Endwert von 1970000

Das gibt uns:

eine prozentuale Steigerung von 1779%

und das ist um ehrlich zu sein wesentlich mehr als ich gedacht hätte! Der Snapshot wurde übrigens mit großer Wahrscheinlichkeit am 23. Februar erstellt, also ist nicht einmal 10 Monate alt!

To get a better understanding of what happend this year we will take a quick look at the total crypto market cap then and now:

Feb 23: ~20 billion
Dec 12: ~500 billion
percentage increase of 2,400%

To let me get this straight: While it took the market 8 years to get to 20 billion, it only took 10 months to get from there to 500 billion!

To go even further: On November 3 we first crossed the 200 billion cap and today just 39 days later we reached 500 billion!

Um zu verstehen, wie ein solcher Anstieg überhaupt möglich war, schauen wir uns kurz die gesamte Krypto Marktkapitalisierung an und vergleichen sie damals und heute:

23. Feb: ~20 Milliarden
12. Dez: ~500 Milliarden
prozentuale Steigerung von 2400%

Also um das nochmal klarzustellen: Obwohl es 8 Jahre gedauert hat bis der Markt bei 20 Milliarden angekommen ist, hat es nur 10 Monate gedauert von dort auf 500 Milliarden zu kommen!

Um noch eine Schippe drauf zu legen: Am 3. November haben wir zum ersten mal die 200 Milliarden Grenze überschritten und heute, 39 Tage später haben wir das erste Mal die 500 Milliarden erreicht!
