Telegram could have set financing records with another ICO. However, the founders want to leave it at the already collected 1.7 billion dollars.

The messenger service Telegram has collected enough money and therefore rejects the plan for a public ICO. This is reported in the Wall Street Journal, citing an insider. The Telegram Group Inc. is said to have received the considerable sum of 1.7 billion dollars, the equivalent of around 1.4 billion euros, from almost 200 private investors - these figures caused a huge media hype.

With the money from the two ICO rounds already carried out, which were only open to investors with net assets of the equivalent of 800,000 euros or an income of around 160,000 euros, Telegram intends to further develop its own app and launch the blockchain payment platform Telegram Open Network.

Who belongs to Telegram's ICO funders is currently only partly known. While Sergei Solonin, founder of the payment service Qiwi, and David Yakobashvili, who launched the Russian food chain Wimm-Bill-Dann Foods, have officially confirmed their participation, Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich did not comment on his alleged participation.
