Ways To Protect Your Cryptocurrency

in #cryptocurrency6 years ago (edited)

When Bitcoin was created in 2009, its early adopters bought up large amounts of the digital currency for a very low price. Since then, Bitcoin’s value has increased dramatically, turning several of those initial investors into millionaires. Its a fact though that the price of the cryptocurrency is not completely predictable. We all think that having cryptocurrency is easy and there is no possible way for us to lose them but that's not true. It takes skill and personal responsibility to secure your digital money. In order to stay protected without worrying too much follow this rules.

Ways:

  1. Always be aware that your cryptocurrency could be stolen.
  2. Always have backup.
  3. Encrypt your sensitive data
  4. Use core wallets as well.
  5. You think smartphone wallet is a good idea? NOPE.
  6. Proper Anti Virus software.
  7. Two Factor Authentication

Always be aware that your cryptocurrency could be stolen

You think you have secured your account ? Think again. People with highly secured accounts have been reporting that they got hacked and lost their money because of that . They had 2 factor authentication but they still got hacked which means that you can be hacked/lost your money even though you followed these rules or not.one of the best ways to protect yourself is to use an offline wallet.

Always have backup

Depending the file size always have an external hard drive / usb where you can store your precious data.If you want your data to be even more secure what you could do is buy USB/External Hard Drive and then go to a bank ( I know, weird but good way ) and put them into a safety deposit box

Encrypt your sensitive data

Use Veracrypt or some other encryption software to do the job for you because believe it or not its much more safer when you encrypt your data.Remember to not store your wallets and passes on the same virtual file store, or else an attacker can grab both your password and your wallet! Be sure to use different passwords for both containers.

Use core wallets as well

Core wallets or not ? The answer is CORE WALLETS. Its because If your coins are offline for a few months or a year, it’s highly likely the file format will remain compatible with the latest version of the core wallet.Core wallets are no frills and designed to be stable and conservative. That’s a good thing.

You think smartphone wallet is a good idea? NOPE.

You've been using Coinomi or similar mobile wallets?? I don't want to say a bad thing about Coinomi or some other wallets but think about this... you are willing to store all that money on a smartphone that you or someone else might pick up ? Smartphones are not as safe as PC's. If you do decide to use a mobile wallet then make sure you have an anti virus on your phone for security purposes.

Proper Anti Virus software.

You might want to download some free anti virus software's but the truth is that they can't be compared to paid anti virus software's such as Kaspersky, BitDefender and other. They have features that you can't have with free anti virus software's.

Two Factor Authentication

Having it is a must because without it there is a high chance that hackers can get everything you have in your wallet.Two-factor also protects your withdrawals. This is critical. When you go to move money from the exchange to your personal wallet, it prompts you for a code again.
