Decentraland: When VR meets Blockchain
We all experienced the craze towards these kitties right?

We also experienced how it conquered the whole Ethereum blockchain and slowed it down due to the overwhelming amount of transactions related to the trading activities of these adorable cryptokitties.
For those who don't know what cryptokitties are, it's actually a virtual digital cat of a simple game based on ETHEREUM blockchain.

It's simple really. You buy a digital cat and breed it with other cats and produce other unique cryptokitties which you can trade later on.
As stupid as this sounds... people are paying over thousands of dollars everyday to get a hold of one of these virtual cats. It has no utility in the real world and to me, even the idea of it sounds funny and idiotic.
It's no more different than the trend of collecting limited edition cards which we all pursued in our childhood.
It's of no use and the only purpose it serves is to be an eye candy for the owner and satisfy his/her stupid desires.
And still people are paying a lot for this to own them.
If people can pay for this... a stupid virtual 2D cat... and make it go viral overnight then what do you think of a whole 3D world?
I present you... DECENTRALAND
Now you might be thinking... what the hell is it exactly? Is it just another gimmick like those cryptokitties?
I tell you... It's more than just a stupid cat. It's a whole universe which you can experience and feel through VR equipments. It's a 3D world where you can interact with people, roam around, play games and do almost anything you would do in the real world!

It is currently on the Terraformation Stage but when it gets fully developed, people are going to spend more of their time on DECENTRALAND than the real world itself.
I'm excited to see what happens next. It's truly a remarkable idea to merge VR with Blockchain.
