Coinbase Acquires Cipher An Ethereum Wallet Provider And DApp Browser

Cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase is said to have acquired its erstwhile competitor Cipher for an undisclosed amount last April 23, 2018.

Cipher is an Ethereum wallet with decentralize application apps browser that runs on the Ethereum Blockchain. Coinbase a similar product called “Toshi” that has similar capabilities.

Pete Kim, the founder of Cipher, will assume a new role as the head of engineering at “Toshi.”

This new acquisition is in line with it’s a new acquisition strategy of hiring talented and exceptional employees through mergers and integrating its staff to its own.

Coinbase VP and General Manger, Dan Romero revealed that they are trying to build Google-like company in the cryptocurrency sphere.

New Virtual Currency Exchange Association Formed In Japan

Sixteen cryptocurrency exchanges which have been approved by the Japanese Financial Services Agency (FSA) have formed a new crypto association.

The Japan Virtual Currency Exchange Association is consist of 16 fully licensed exchanges operating inside Japan.

Members include Tokyo Bitcoin Exchange (DMM Bitcoin), Bitarg Exchange Tokyo, FTT Corporation, Xtheta Corporation, and Bitocean, Bitflyer, Money Partners, Bitbank, Bitpoint, Quoine, SBI Virtual Currencies, Fisco Virtual Currency, Btcbox, Zaif, GMO Coin and Bittrade.

The group will be launched in April 23, 2018.

Taizen Okuyama, the president of Money Partners, is said to be elected as its Chairman.

The group will have authority to investigate and sanction members that do not comply with self-regulations which the group plans to establish.

John McAfee Firm On His Forecast: $1M USD In 2020

The most prominent ambassador for the cryptocurrency world, John McAfee is standing by his prediction that Bitcoin (BTC) will reach the price of $1M U.S.

Dollars by the end of the year 2020.

The founder of McAfee Associates (which he long resigned from) stated in his twitter that as cryptocurrency grows huge devaluations in Fiat will occur.

Similar predictions for the value of BTC has been made, American Billionaire and venture capitalist Tim Draper predicted bitcoin could be $250,000 by 2022.

TomLee of Fundstrat had also predicted that BTC could be worth as much as USD25,000 by the end of the of the year.

Brian Kelly Of CNBC Fast Money Compares Bitcoin To The Internet In The 1980’s

Brian Kelly of CNBC Fast Money commented that he used to compare cryptocurrencies to the internet in 1995, now he understands that is more comparable to the internet much earlier, Internet of the 1980’s.

He also added that when negative news arrives such as the one reported in Barclay’s analyst comparing it to a virus that is the time that when he wants to by any asset.

He supports Tim Draper’s assessment that Bitcoin could hit $250,000 by 2022.

He also support the analysis of Fundstrat’s Tom Lee that the latest price slump is a direct consequence of Cryptocurrency holders tax selling activities and will see a clearer view on Bitcoin’s price after April 17, 2018.
