Videos stored in the SIA Blockchain can now be played live
Sia, the popular initiative for decentralized storage in the cloud, has just announced to its entire community the launch of a new version that includes a novel feature that allows live playback of videos on the local network.
The release of the version, corresponding to 1.3.3, was notified through Sia's official Twitter account. In the statement, the fact that users will be able to transmit and store videos at a lower price than on other platforms was highlighted. Similarly, they highlight the functionality as a first step "to obtain basic functionality" and "improve file upload time".
Later, once the file is loading, other users can view what is shared through a URL that can be reproduced in any application that supports videos, taking into account that the Sia API generates a transmission endpoint in a module called tenant. All this occurs without the need for the file to be stored momentarily on the disk of the instance of Sia.
With this new capacity of live reproduction, the company believes that the platform now has a real business use, highlighting the fact that platforms such as Netflix or Amazon TV will have the possibility of transmitting videos at a much lower cost than with other networks of the market, taking into account that the distribution of files is a cheaper alternative to server storage.
