Venezuela Launching a "Petro-Gold" backed Crypto! Addicted to Crypto Much?
Venezuela announces on TV to the citizens that they will launch another cryptocurrency that is "Petro-Gold" backed. They claim it will be even better than the "Petro" backed crypto and things seem to be turning around in the country. Before they had a lot of miners who were getting cracked down because of "energy theft" and no the entire government stopped the FUD and is in the blockchain game. We know that the cyrpto will be centralized, but is this setting a new president that other countries will follow?

I think eventually the people in any country will only want to support and invest in a cryptocurrency that's truly free from government manipulation. But everything that happens with cryptos, with blockchain technology, serves to raise awareness about this stuff to more people, which is ultimately what will free humanity from the system.
I agree. In the least, what this is doing is making people even more AWARE of crypto. Government make thing it's taking control of crypto, but it's actually just introducing it to the masses. It's a short-term bandaid move on their part.

The Petro, the alleged crypto currency of Venezuela, in my opinion is really a title of public debt that the State is issuing to collect funds for its electoral campaigns. Thats the reality

As a curious girl, I tried to see how it was the pre-sale of this crypto but let me start off by saying is really difficult to register in the page, difficult to buy and the rules are not that clear. It looks more like if they want to suck all of your money and give you nothing back. I wouldn't trust anything that takes so long to give you a feedback. Oh and last but not least, the only way to buy it is with dolars, euros, BTC or ETH, so... It's not for "everyone" like they said; why I say this? Because here in Venezuela not everyone has the opportunity to buy dolars, BTC, etc; then what is the actual point to create a cryto for Venezuela if you can't use Bolívares to buy it too? They just want to have money for national debt...

Please let us know more of what the sentiment is over there among the local people about what the government is doing. Do they not trust the government with this? The majority?

I just want to say that something here just doesn't add up. If you go and check PTR transactions on a block explorer, you'll see that the "successful ICO" only accounts for 252,828,159$ and not almost a billion as the Venezuela propaganda machine claims it to be. You can check it out here: https://etherscan.io/token/0x1ec10eab27b76968cd8b854914cc6eb9f886ce27 and do the math yourselves.

Thanks for mentioning that. I was thinking that but forgot to mention it in ththe video. It’s completely centralized so a lot of people who think they’re buying decentralized crypto are basically buying government bonds.
