SEC Delays CTF Decision

The SEC has extended the timeframe it allows to consider proposed rule changes for the request submitted by the Cboe BZX Exchange "to list and trade shares of SolidX Bitcoin Shares." The SEC wrote in the ruling that they will extend their deadline for approval / disapproval until September 30, 2018.

MetaMask Privacy Updates

MetaMask is upgrading its security. As of November 2nd, the extension will no longer automatically inject an Ethereum provider / Web3 instance for webpages. For users, this means autonomy over which dapps have access to their public account information. Developers will need to update their dapps to specifically request an Ethereum provider.

Opera Releases PC Browser Wallet

Following the success of its wallet app for the Android mobile browser, Opera will bring the technology to PCs. The PC wallet will integrate directly with the mobile version, eliminating the need for desktop extensions. The mobile device will manage key storage, meaning users can use their fingerprint rather than a passphrase to unlock the PC wallet.

FCA Announces GFIN

The UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has announced the formation of the Global Financial Innovation Network (GFIN), a collaboration with international financial regulators. The GFIN will work to create a global sandbox and improve communication and scalability for solutions in the modern economy.

Microsoft Announces ETH PoA SaaS

Enough anagrams for you? The MS Azure platform has announced the addition of Proof-of-Authority solutions for its support of Ethereum. They will offer enterprise-level solutions and leverage Parity web-assembly support, allowing for the development of smart contracts in C, C++, and other Microsoft-friendly languages.

From Crime to Speculation

The nature of Bitcoin activity has apparently hit some critical mass, making the majority of use cases for legal rather than illicit purposes. A U.S. DEA official says her data shows that about 10% of blockchain activity is illegal, down from 90% some five years ago, and that speculation drives the market now.

NANO Fiat Pair & Crypto Hunt

The London Block Exchange, a UK-based cryptocurrency exchange, has teamed up with NANO to provide a NANO/GBP fiat pair. To commemorate, NANO is organizing a "crypto hunt" in which UK residents solve riddles for a chance to win a Ledger Nano pre-loaded with about $5,000 worth of NANO.

IOTA Drama

Holy drama, Batman. The IOTA Foundation and two of its founders found themselves in a heated exchange yesterday over the amount of time it has taken to appoint the two founders to the board, leading to the issuance of an ultimatum by one of the founders calling for a board member's resignation. According to the official statement given by IOTA today, the delays are due to German laws around changing non-profit statutes, which was poorly communicated.
