What TeraWATT is Trying to Solve

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past two decades, you know that greenhouse gas emissions are a problem. There have been many attempts by governments all around the world and NGOs to solve this problem, but we are still far away from acceptable levels of greenhouse gas emissions. The electricity sector has been a big problem in this issue, and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has stated that the electricity sector accounted for about 29% of the total U.S. greenhouse gas emissions. One impactful way to lower this total is to start using Light Emitting Diodide (LED) lighting, which is where the TeraWATT project comes in.

TeraWATT’s Plan

TeraWATT will be creating a Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) and a deflationary Ethereum-based, private currency for global payments to promote the use of LED lighting. The DAO will be funded and used by utility companies, LED sellers, businesses, TeraWATT token holders, and energy customers around the world. Essentially, it will act as a decentralized global mutual/insurance fund to make sure that business will have access to funding for subsidized LED sales to energy customers.
One aspect of the project that I found interesting, particularly as an investor, is the fact that the project will use a continuous coin burning algorithm. Even better news for investors is that the project will use a whopping 50-75% of company profits to buyback and burn tokens. You’ve probably heard of other projects, like Binance coin doing something similar, but TeraWATT will be burned 24/7 and not just once every month or once every quarter.

The Team

Sound ambitious? I thought so too, so I decided to look at their team members closely like I do for every project. The CEO is Evan William, and I saw that he’s worked for some major companies in the past. For example, he worked at U.S. telecoms giant Verizon Wireless, and was even a U.S. government contractor for the Department of Defense. The DAO Architect, Shubham Tatvamasi was the largest contributor to the Ethereum DAO, and contributed to the Bitcoin Blockchain, Microsoft Azure, and more. Advisor and Developer Hase Takujira was previously a Full Stack Developer at Ubisoft Tokyo. The team all around has lots of experience in the crypto industry as well as experience working for reputable companies, so even thought the project may seem ambitious, I’m sure that that they will be able to pull through.

Token Sale

The private sale of TeraWATT (LED) tokens has already taken place in June. The PreICO stage will take place in July. The main ICO will be in September, with the cap set at USD $11,460,000.

Marketing and Roadmap

Another thing that I really like about this project is that they are not ignoring the marketing aspect of the project. If you have been investing in crypto for a while, I’m sure you’ve invested in projects that have a great product and a strong team, but don’t know how to market themselves. TeraWATT seems to understand how important marketing is in the crypto space. They will be spending 40% of TeraWATT contributions on marketing and growth. 30% will be spent on development, 20% on operations, and 10% on legal and contingency. The team also have a very detailed roadmap that goes all the way to 2020, and I highly suggest you to check out the full roadmap on the TeraWATT website, which I will link below.
