Adena Friedman: Nasdaq will Open to Crypto Exchange

After going through a variety of mature preparations, the Nasdaq is now open to being one of the cryptocurrency trading platforms like bitcoin, said Adena Friedman, CEO of the Nasdaq.

"Of course the Nasdaq will consider being a crypto exchange from time to time,"

"If we see 'it's time,' we are ready to enter into a more orderly market, to provide a fair experience for investors," Friedman explained.

The key to the Nasdaq and other institutional investors is regulation, which Friedman says needs to be updated before the company will add to the cryptocurrency exchange exchanges. However, the Nasdaq CEO is optimistic about the future of digital assets.

"I believe that the digital currency will continue to survive, it's just a matter of how long it will take to reach that maturity," Friedman said. Therefore, Nasdaq supports all existing cryptocurrency exchange exchanges.

On Wednesday (25/4), the company announced a collaboration with one of the cryptocurrency exchange exchanges, Gemini. Gemini was founded by the first investor bitcoin, namely Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss.

Meanwhile, Friedman is optimistic about the future of cryptocurrency. Nevertheless, he is less optimistic about the fundraising process is known as initial coin offerings, or Initial Coin Offering (ICO).

"ICO needs to be regulated. The SEC is right that it is security and needs to be regulated like that, "Friedman said.

More than 1,300 percent of last year's bitcoin price increase attracted the attention of regulators. Bitcoin prices are close to the level of US $ 20,000 in December 2017 ago. Today, bitcoin prices are down 48 percent in the first three months of the year.
