IBM & Veridium Partner Up To Protect The Environment Through Blockchain Technology!
IBM and Veridium labs are partnering up to create a stellar based cryptocurrency, which will tokenize carbon credits in order to enable companies around the globe to measure their carbon footprint. The following statement explains it quite nicely:
"IBM is continuing its commitment to environmental stewardship through its engagement with Veridium. The Veridium token issuance may not only present a powerful solution for environmental offsets, but open up new funding opportunities for critical initiatives such as Infinite-Earth's rainforest reserve. IBM believes innovative technologies like blockchain can make the world a better place."
So to sum it up shortly, IBM is trying to use the blockchain in order to reduce the overall carbon output of companies around the world as all carbon emissions within the supply chain will/can be tracked on the blockchain.
This will once enable companies to track their carbon footprint and as well put a bit more pressure on the dirty guys out there as records would be publicly available for everyone. We wouldn't have to rely on some statistics anymore, which are just provided by the companies itself and hence probably not 100% accurate after all...
Personally I really like the idea but I'm not sure how IBM and Veridium labs aim to push this idea forward to make sure the project will really have some positive impact on the environment and bring more of a focus towards the topic of global warming.
The future is definitely going to be interesting and I'll try to follow up this case a bit as I'm already kind of a fan of the plain idea and would just love to see it become reality. Let's see how that'll play out :)

very very positive news for crypto world. Company like IBM, is engaging in crypto business. It will bring very positive effect. and, also their way of approaching looks good. People are now more concern about the environment, from any time before.
If the project can partner with governments, it would be easy for companies to comply to stem the vice. I like the idea and it can work with a lot of transparency.
