A Little History and Cuisine part 2

Tempura for instance is one of my favourite styles of Japanese foods. It involves the light coating of various vegetables and fish in a light batter. The items are deep fried to a golden crispy texture that sees the inside cooked to perfection while the exterior retains its beautiful crunch. Tempura is an interesting term as it is a variant that stems from the Portuguese language.

The word represents an entirely different meaning as it relates to a state of not eating meats. In turn, fish would be consumed in batter. This Portuguese style would see its practice spread to near neighbouring countries and eventually would make its way to Japan. There it would see great popularity and the evolution of the Tempura style would become one of the most well known in the country and outside.
