OUR CULTURAL HERITAGE

I am sharing with you these photos of our Higaonon Monuments which depict the way of life of our people. At the entry point of Poblacion, Impasugong, Bukidnon, the Panika or head dress was constructed which symbolizes the integrity of our women. The structure was designed by one of our famous artists in Mindanao, Kublai, who is based at Davao City. He is a renowned artist who has a big heart for the indigenous peoples.

The Higaonon Tribe comprised 67% of our population in the municipality and through time, the tribe is able to preserve its cultural heritage handed down by its forefathers. The project was conceptualized by the municipal government to educate our people especially the young generation of our roots, our customs and traditions that make us a people of noble beginnings with a heightened perspective towards development.

This is the panika.

This monument is constructed within the municipal hall grounds, a depiction of the way of life of the Higaonon Tribe in the municipality – its customs and traditions along with its productive inclination over the land which is its primary source of living.

This one portrayed the fruits of the soil and toils of the tribe, among of which is the production of Hinabol, a woven fabric from abaca. Hinabol weaving is now promoted by our women which is supported by the local government.
