Today i am with my friends and celebrating function of saraiki people. In it, they doing dance and present our culture, the dance which they perform is "jhumar dance".

 

Religion:

It is lively form of music and dance and 99% population of Saraikistan is Muslim.  Majority Muslims are Sunnis while the Shea population also in considerable size. The region is home to many Sufism. It is also called as the city of saints (madinatul Auliyaمدینۃالاولیا‬). One of the first Sufi saints is to arrived in Multan was Hazrat Shah Gardez who is considered as the founder of Muslim Multan according to a BBC world documentary.

 

 Clothing:

 People of Saraiki wear a shalwar kameez, which is  also a national dress of Pakistan. The traditional male dress is Lungi with Chola (kameez). Tradition male dresses suthanr shalwar, Ghayiroli saraiki shalwar. The tradition put shaal, rumal or pashmina on shoulder. Chadar is also an important part of male and female dress. Women wear bochanr, Chunni and men wear Patka on the head. Women also used to wear ghagra but it is not used only for wedding and parties. Ajrak and Topi also worn by people and peolpe love to wear ir . Saraiki men also like to have big moustaches locally saying (muchaan), and little beard and the dressing of the hairs(waal). Somewhere these are long cut by the own desire of them and somewhere short. 

Jhumar:

Jhumar is traditional folk dance of Saraiki. it is originated in Multan and Balochistan.  It is slow and rhythmic, The word "Jhumar" comes from jhoom which means swaying. it is also love with emotional song, Jhumar is performed on wedding, school college and university function. This dance is also perfomed in circle to the tune of emotional song. There is also another dance with the name of Poochhra, it is perform on wedding.
