Colours of India #1
India is a country of diversity. If you are an outsider and you look closely, you will find that the whole nation is comprised of various communities who have their own lifestyle. The main point to be observed here is that despite being such a diversified nation there is still some invisible force that binds the nation together. No matters where you come from, you will always notice "Unity in Diversity" in this beautiful nation called Bharat (India).
I have started this series called "Colours of India" in which I will be including all the pictures that will give a glance at the traditions and beliefs of Indian culture. This picture is my first ever inclusion in this series.
In this picture, village-women are celebrating an auspicious occasion by offering songs to their Gods. The younger girl is playing an Indian percussion instrument called "Dholak" and the older woman is playing another percussion instrument called "Manjeera" (a pair of clash-cymbals which make high-pitched percussion sounds). They are singing about the glory of all the Gods and Goddesses to seek their blessings.
