Colours of India #3

in #culture6 years ago (edited)

India is a country of diversity. If you are an outsider and you look closely, you will find that the whole nation is comprised of various communities who have their own lifestyle. The main point to be observed here is that despite being such a diversified nation there is still some invisible force that binds the nation together. No matters where you come from, you will always notice "Unity in Diversity" in this beautiful nation called Bharat (India)

I have started this series called "Colours of India" in which I will be including all the pictures that will give a glance at the traditions and beliefs of Indian culture. As this is the third edition, so I have included three pictures. In my prior posts in the series, I have included the pictures of ceremonies. In this part, I'll be showing how the food is cooked during these ceremonies in the villages of India.

In the first picture, two women are deep frying pooris (deep fried bread) and kachauris (stuffed and deep fried bread). While in the second picture, four women are seen rolling out the dough into circular shapes. Few other females are sitting there to give company and also to switch places whenever required. It is evident through these two pictures that food is being cooked in good proportions and all the women from the house and neighbourhood are working in apt synchronisation for smooth functioning. Whereas in the third picture a man from the neighbourhood is seen cooking the potato curry. Usually the men of the family are assigned other tasks of organising the event but in this case, he had to prepare a ceremonial curry to be presented to the Gods much before the meals.

In India, people don't only come to be a part of the ceremony but they also participate in the back-end functioning of the event. They provide all the physical and moral support needed to organise an event. It is also worth mentioning that the event doesn't belongs to a particular house but instead it becomes the event of the whole neighbourhood. It is due to the love and bonding that exists among them. All the three pictures show the love and compassion of Indians for each other.
