Dog-Directed Backyard Design

"Leo the Chill [a 100 lb collie] designed my whole garden pathway system! I followed his footsteps in the snow one day, recorded them with stakes and a hand-drawn map, and went with it - his flow made a lot of sense and I'm glad I did!" – @jennislay

The idea of letting your dog plan out the landscape design of your homestead is lovely, and from the author's experience (shared in this post) also very practical. Whether your furry friends are pulling plants or digging holes, there's a message in each for the homesteader.

Jennis shares her design tips to help achieve a "pro-pup" backyard design. Learn to give your dog a sense of responsibility and duty, get in on tips to absorb the nitrogen, among many other things, all towards building an ecosystem that is in synch with nature and good for both you and your dogs.

Week 4: WEEZER (420 to 30: A Music Retrospective)

This one is part of a series: a very well thought-out countdown to a milestone event. A while ago Jozef started counting down 60 weeks to his 30th birthday, and promised to feature 420 songs from 60 artists "in order to therapeutically amuse" himself as he enters his 4th decade.

"Music has a transportive quality to take you back to moments. I hope my choices will allow you to access memories from the 1950s to today, and perhaps even discover some great music you had previously missed or overlooked. – @jozefkrichards

A very nifty selection from the featured band, Weezer. The author takes you on a throwback, offering his personal perspectives on each of the seven featured tracks, in a way that is both entertaining and informative. You may want to follow Jozef's series of "420 to 30". A little bird told me Bob Dylan is next in a great line up that's already featured Johnny Cash and the Jackson's 5. Don't miss this.

Out Of My Body: My Acupuncture Story

The task was to "share a detailed glimpse into how natural medicine has impacted [one's] life," and @metametheus let us in on this time-stopping first date with acupuncture. This compelling narrative goes all the way back to his early university years, and dealing with a "hellish" time.

The post explores how natural healing helped him deal with that sense of foreboding and anxiety:

"I don’t really remember the full extent of what happened next, as I think I may have dropped into a very deep state of meditative rest. At some stage, I remember having an awareness that I was lying on the bed, in this strange place, with pins sticking out of my body… but at the same time, I was not that person."

"Had it not been for those sessions however, I’m not certain I would have finished my degree, or gotten my life back together so quickly. I understand now that my body was sending my signals that I needed to make serious changes in my life." – @metametheus

The silver bullets to making my perfect game.

I can't exactly say if this cuts through complexities, but it sure provides a pathway for the perfect game... at least one this author deems so. Let's dive in. Here Eilder Jorge brings his expertise to bear as a software engineer and someone who has lived and breathed video games for well over a couple decades. I mean he has "played over 2000 games of all kinds and genres" and according to him, among the first words he muttered as a kid was "controller."

Eilder explores platform, control, interface, animation, sound, engagement, theme, finance and most everything else in his quest to craft that one game that fits most biases and is pretty damn fun to play, making tons of money too for its makers. Isn't that the idea of a "perfect game?" This masterful post is birthed from a contest from the Archdruid Gaming community, with a task to describe dream games.

This post is suspect with in-depth knowledge for making a best selling game.

It's an insightful read. Do run along with it.

With that we wrap this edition of the showcase post. We hope you find these contents/authors interesting.
