Pixabay Curation Magazine // Mouth-Watering Food Photography by RitaE & Igorovsyannykov // Issue 6

This week, I've picked out some of the most delicious looking food photographs on Pixabay. I've tried to select images that really stood out to me, also taking into account how much the artist had contributed to Pixabay in the past.

I can safely say that you could use any of these photographs for a variety of professional projects. They're as good as the most professional photographs that you'll find on a paid stock image website.

Artists featured in this magazine will receive a small donation from me. The post rewards of this issue will be used to fund future donations, but the amount donated to the individual artists has no correlation to the post rewards. -- Changes to Pixabay Curation Magazine

This time, I've also opted to share smaller sized images, whereas I previously used images that were 1280×853, now I'm using 640×426 sized images. This should reduce the loading time of Pixabay Curation Magazine articles, feel free to mention your preference in the comments.

I just love these two photographs of RitaE. The colours in those pictures just look so vibrant, which makes the food really pop out. It really seems as though they've paid great attention to detail, since every food item on those pictures just looks immaculate. If you ever need to use food-related images on your blogs, these ones are perfect!

RitaE has been a long-time member of Pixabay, contributing to the public domain since 2013. She's still very active today, adding new pictures almost daily. Currently RitaE has just over 2000 images on Pixabay and they've been downloaded 3,166,880 times!! Now that's some real dedication...

Igor's photographs are a bit darker than the ones of RitaE, but I really appreciate the fact that they have a very different feel to them. Especially the second one with the dumplings really grabbed my attention, I really like it. The first photograph has a nice composition, whichmakes the pizza look very appetizing. Both of these images received an Editor's Choice Award on Pixabay.

Igorovsyannykoz has contributed a total of 186 images to Pixabay since 2017. I thought that he definitely deserved a spot here, because he has received 13 Editor's Choice Awards in total, which is a really good achievement considering he has less than 200 photographs on Pixabay.

FOR TSE: Smaller images load faster. These came down really well -- and I don't think you've lost any of the photos' impact. These are all lovely. That one with the berries is amazing! What color!

Very cool!
I like your choices of photos to feature.

Great... now Im hungry...
Haha!

Thanks that was the goal indeed :)

Good choices, they make me hungry haha

Yeah I wouldn't mind eating either of those dishes :P

Right on, @daan. The key to good food photography is the MINIMIZE the "polished" look. A lot of food photographers put an emphasis on CONTROLLING many of the factors of the shots. For a season photographic eye it is generallky easy to pick up on this. I agree that the dumpling shot above has special appeal, and I believe that is because it is more organic. The photographer caught the MOMENT and the MOOD of the image - although it is pretty likely that they used either a filter or post-production filter to add the purple hue to the hand of the chef, and this, in my opinion falls into the "not in the moment" category. In my opinion, that shot would be BETTER if they had just kept the blue-grey tone of the hand/arm, which would have made it look more natural, and kept the overall of the moment. Other than that, these photographers have some good shots. Keep it up, as I read/enjoy all of thesee posts, and follow through to check out the photographers...

Really talented people! I loved that dessert photo from Rita E. Nice curation @Daan!

Thanks for sharing.

That fruit yoghurt (the second photo) really looks amazing, and the fig and cheese is not something that I had thought of pairing! I do have some fresh figs downstairs... and some Dutch cheese and French bread... it could be an interesting thing to try out tomorrow for a lunch snack!

PS: I know it wasn't supposed to be a food post, but I got distracted!
