Déjà vu or premonition of the future ?

in #curie5 years ago

Have you ever had an unusual feeling that you have already experienced or seen something, although you know that you are in a particular place for the first time? I have and is time to find the reason why this occurs at all...

It's hard to explain the true cause of why the déjà vu occurs at all. But I can give you a little more information about this theme.

Deja vu is an overwhelming feeling of familiarity or knowing, something that we shouldn't know or be familiar with that feeling at all. Each of us has already experienced a feeling that something that supposed to be a new experience, but you feel like you had already seen, heard or been there. Usually, it only takes a few seconds. It is known that these phenomena are more common by younger people, but among the elderly, this occurs mainly due to fatigue or stress.

What can cause deja vu?

  • Replacing dreams and realities
  • A new situation similar to the old one
  • Error during signal transmission in the brain
  • Concussion

Scientists still don’t know exactly why people are experiencing deja vu - the feeling that we have already experienced that moment, even though we know that we really did not. But new research has shown that deja vu occurs when people come into a new situation similar to one in the past. For the moment, they think that they have already experienced the event.

We can experience 3 different types of déjà vu:

Déjà vécu: literally means "I already experienced that", even if it isn't true, but we still believed that we have already lived or seen that moment.

Déjà senti: or“I’ve already felt this”. A feeling that makes you believe that you have already experienced this because you feel the familiar feelings about a particular event or person you see for the first time in your life. However, you can't remember anything else, just the emotion that this situation causes you.

Deja visite: refers to the feeling that you know the place even though you are there for the first time. It can be a place, but it can also be a house, an office, a forest and so on. It's a very exciting feeling because is almost impossible to know the way to the city if you are here for the first time. This feeling it's also very rare.

Scientific Explanation?

As I said before, this is a feeling that goes on in the brain, so that means that there are some changes in the cognitive system that makes us go through this experience. Usually, when our memory remembers something from the past, the brain activates the temporal lobe circuit. This is how memories come into our mind. But when we have Déjà vu, it happens that this circuit activates at a time when it shouldn't be activated, and therefore our feeling is that we have a memory - false memory.

The phenomenon is studied through retrospective studies, surveys, and case studies. It is related to stress and fatigue, it also correlates positively with socioeconomic status and education. Two thirds, that is, almost most people, experience deja vu. It's a short phenomenon that lasts for 10 to 30 seconds and is accompanied by surprise, curiosity, and confusion. If we've experienced deja vu once, we've probably had more than one episode. It is more likely that it's experienced indoors, during relaxation and in the company of friends. It happens more often in the afternoon or towards evening and towards the end of the week. It decreases with age. It is more common for those who travel or remember their dreams, people who are in stress and it's also more common for the people with a creative and imaginative mind.

But here are some other theories why the deja vu occurs!

It is based on the idea that time and space are an illusion that everything exists at the moment, past and future. Life itself is not merely linear, only our perception of time on Earth is. Our mind lives in linear time, and our soul doesn't live on the principle of linearity, but is boundless and timeless. It is connected to boundless cosmic consciousness - to something greater than ourselves, which has no linear time. So, because we are connected to our soul and cosmic consciousness, we can transcend ourselves in time and space. There is not one dimension of reality, because our soul knows many different dimensions. Therefore, our soul may know a path that we have not yet crossed. Experiencing this moment is part of our consciousness, which is only present in this dimension we are experiencing. The dimensions are endless, they reflect the reflection of our energy in a multidimensional space.

Thus they explain that déjà vu is something that our soul, which can travel through the dimensions of time and space, remembers that moment. They say "I from the future or past" is watching you.

"The present moment is the only moment that we have available and represents the door to all moments" said Zen master Thich Nhat Hanh. His statement that we can access in all moments in the present moment.

However, we still don't have a 100% reliable evidence on the subject, so the debate is still open and researchers are continuing to investigate this. And in terms of the human mind, we still have a long way to go.

What do you think is a déjà vu?

Thank you guys for reading, and till the next time ;)
