(ENG-ITA) Swe(ea)t MTB #32 - [Photos by voiceoff]
Session 31 - August 10th
Finally today it was possible to have a good session, it was about ten days that I could not. It's about time! I came back a bit dirty mud because of the shower yesterday but we say that sometimes the presence of mud is fun.
I will talk about the most important peculiarity of this path that you can guess by looking at the elevation profile: the descent of "Su Solianu" and the subsequent ascent of "Sa Nughe". Actually it's the second time I've passed this year but the past time I was not ready and I had hurt her, so I did not stop talking about it too much.
This descent is one of the most difficult that can be found where I'm from: it is only one kilometer long, there are various dangerous curves, a concrete road surface (but the last stretch is on the dirt) sometimes slippery (due to settling of dust) and a slope that in some places exceeds 30%! Good brakes, steel wrists and lots of attention: this is what you need in general. On this occasion, however, I took the opportunity to stop several times to photograph the landscape that in this "ditch" is particularly impressive. There is also a sign at the entrance to the descent which indicates a 15% slope (of course, wrong! 😡).
The climb of "Sa Nughe", at the level of slopes, is not far behind: here you need "the leg", a lot of leg! They are only 600 meters but it's a wall! In some parts the front wheel loses a lot of grip because it tends to rise and therefore it's necessary to lean forward with the body to avoid putting the foot on the ground. In the end, however, I think I have overcome the difficulty well.
It was tough but I hope I can ride again tomorrow. Below is the report of the day and some photos taken with the smartphone.
