Cats and Dogs, Boxes and Boundaries - Bobi the Bad vs Prince and Bear
Bobi the Bad tries to look inconspicuous
in his little box on the floor. Every trip home from the store means a plastic bag or a box for him to stake out, mark as his territory, lay down his scent: Mine! Back off, this space belongs to Bobi the Bad!
"Hello there," Prince and Bear say,
sniffing and invading Bobi's space, notoriously oblivious to the boundaries Bobi seeks to establish.
Well, hear this, Bobi says...
But Prince takes the warning grimace as an invitation:
And Bobi retreats to his throne.
I get no respect
says every cat, ever...

Even when, in fact, from the dog's perspective, they've never been given anything but respect. Of a sort. ;-)

An age old dynamic. ;-)
When Lolo's really excited coming in from outside, he'll trample any cat already in the way, and when they complain, he's completely affronted.
"What? I allow you to live here, I don't harass you (too often), and I've never tried to eat you even once! Ungrateful little fur balls!"
Of course, he scarfs their food any chance he gets, and has started growling if they come near his, but that's part of being a dog. I do occasionally take his food at such times to reaffirm that growling at the cats over food, or at me, is entirely unacceptable.
