holoz0r's A-Z of Steam: Darkest Dungeon Part 1
Welcome to the Darkest Dungeon. This game is a rogue-like, incredibly deep, unforgiving adventure through the eloquently spoken horrors of dungeon crawling.
There's no heroes. There's mental conditions, despair, incredible narration, and a tactical depth that I haven't seen in a rogue-like game before.
The death of "Heroes" is permanent (like XCOM) - you get to build a base of operations (The Hamlet, instead of the Avenger) - (Like XCOM) - and you're constantly fighting against your available resources.
Instead, your resources are your people.
In this first video of my Darkest Dungeon play through, I go through two missions, and come to terms with the game play mechanics. There's a huge amount of strategy in the battles, and I look forward to learning more as I delve deeper into this game.
Love the animation on their coats, and the zoomed in action moments. I've never been drawn to the turn-based stuff; but that could be worth a look.
There'll be heaps more of this game for me to post!
Glittering gold, trinkets and baubles, paid for in BLOOD.
Lol, I like the narrator's voice. No one can make the word "Obliterated" sound more brutal than he can.
I played this game a little a while ago and was enjoying it a lot. The game is addicting. Like one-more-match-then-go-to-bed-kind of addicting.
It can almost feel like Civ at times, with that "one more turn" - and yes, the narration in this title is incredible!
