东马土著可以接受英文教学（反正马来亚文和英文都不是它们的母语），但是又不肯放弃土著特权。而且马来亚文这么简单东马土著都学得很辛苦了，如果改用英文教学估计东马土著就更加无所适从了。

KL 许多天主教会有很多来自东马的教众，有些教会甚至多过一半的活跃教众是东马人。在 Allah 字眼课题闹得沸沸扬扬的时候，其实大部分西马基督教会都不肯卷入这场风波的。可是因为许多东马教众的央求，西马教会只好硬着头皮与政府对抗。结果发生了神父被绑架至今下落不明的事件，这就是东马教众的固执与无知间接导致的。
