DD14 The FBI Vault Winners Announced !!!

This round of Deep Dives has come to a close. This edition was just the second foray into the FBI Vault collection. Some researchers expressed their frustration with the FBI website and this is understandable. The archive doesn't have the most friendly user interface. Even when entering specific names or titles sometimes does not bring up documents that are present in the collection. Moreover, prominence is given to recognizable criminal names and celebrities over more substantive investigations.

It's hard to say how much this influenced the small number of participants for this round or whether it's an indication of waning interest. Regardless, Deep Dives soldiers on in it's quest to unearth seldom seen documents and material hidden from the greater public.

Once again, we'd like to give a big thank you to all the participants in the Deep Dives research challenge. We value your original submissions, the light you shed on under-reported stories and your dedication to digging into areas that some find controversial or taboo. Respect.

Also, @deepdives would like to thank @angryman for his steadfast efforts to promote the research challenge, thank you it's much appreciated.

Note: Normally, @deepdives seeks to reward several contributors to the reasearch challenge, however this time around only a single post qualified as an official entree. Therefore, we've decided to withhold the 2nd and 3rd place SBD prizes (10 SBD) and add it to the prize pool for DD15 in hopes a larger payout might generate more contributions.

Making Sure Money Trumps Morality

by @krnel

Like father, like son. Jared Kushner's shady deal making runs in the family seen plainly in his father, Charles Kushner's, FBI file. As @krnel accurately explains:

This guy is a crook, through and through. He went to prison for some of his behavior. Charles grew the family-owned real estate business in the 80s and 90s and was find more than $500,000 by the Federal Election Commission for his illegal political donations. Charles eventually pleaded guilty to 18 counts of making illegal campaign contributions, tax evasion and witness tampering.

In keeping with his father's corrupt practices, Jared Kushner helped the Trump administration broker the massive $100 million arms deal with the Saudis. While Trump has shown some signs that he's reluctant to take the advice of his hawkish advisors and jump into another war in the Middle East, he is completely at ease with war-profiteering by supporting the House of Saud's murderous genocide in Yemen.

Way to call it like it is @krnel! Great find!

Thanks for the win :) Too bad I was the only official entry :/ I think the FBI Vault should be barred from future DD :P

I'm going to take place in the next one as well, so you won't be alone. Plus, going to make sure to plug this more - because I think its great. Hopefully more people will be apart of it. Jared Kushner bought the 666 building in new york - I think there was good old money laundering going on there, if you look at how he overpaid for it etc., - washing money left and right

Great news Ed! And thanks for your promos as well, I don't know how we forgot to give you a shoutout as well. The struggling Steem price isn't doing us any favors either :)

Don't know if we'll completely eliminate the Vault from DD but it won't be in rotation for several rounds now. Congratulations again and for sticking with us week-in-week out. You've made some exceptional contributions. Cheers!
