The Kavanaugh hearings showed how politics can override everything.
The Democrats, in the view of many, scored a victory by having the vote delayed. At the same time, the Republicans were weak to allow the Democrats to force the issues.
One problem is the situation is reversed. The Republicans are now seen, thanks to President Trump ordering the FBI to investigate, as seriously looking into the issue. Now, the Democrats are left having to answer questions as to what exactly Diane Feinstein and a company of lawyers were up to.
