The Keeper Of Lost Causes movie review (Department Q series)

in #denmark5 years ago

I am a big fan of Scandinavian movies, and even though some of them aren't as good as others, I still enjoy them all. Not long ago, I wrote a review of the Danish movie The Guilty, a very interesting movie, though not really my kind. But, today I want to share with you a review of a movie I really enjoyed and it is called The Keeper of Lost Causes, and it is the first movie in the Department Q series.

The Department Q series is a Danish movies series about two detectives working together in a basement. Their job is to close cases that just takes up space in the paper trail. But, the problem is that they are curious and good detectives, which means that they often find errors and mistakes in the investigations made and the conclusions, and therefore, instead of closing cases, they re-open them.

The The Keeper of Lost Causes the story is about a woman that disappeared on a boat almost 5 years ago. The case is dead, but our detectives find the story to be strange and clearly unsolved. Instead of burying it, they pick up the thread and keep on investigating. We get to know more about the lady, about her family life, and other sides of her life. But, what really happened to her? Did she commit suicide on the boat (like most people believe)? Was she taken captive? Was she killed? The investigators do their job, even though they are laughed at and people have little faith in the job they are doing.

How did I like The Keeper of Lost Causes?

This was the first movie I saw in the Department Q series, and I was captivated by the story and the movie at once. So, I don't lie when I say that after finishing the first movie, I very quickly got started on the second movie to see what the follow-up movie was like. This was a brilliant movie with a perfect balance between action, investigation, personal challenges, and what anyone would expect from such a movie.

I will not spoil anything else about this movie, but I would call this a perfect Scandinavian thriller with a dark feeling to it. The characters, especially the main detective, isn't a perfect person at all. Instead, he is a tired, depressed, but hard-working and diligent detective.

My score: 9/10

Are you ready for this movie? I can warmly recommend it!

Where to watch The Keeper of Lost Causes?

Did this movie catch your interest? I watched it on Hulu with my Hulu subscription (and the movie is still there). If you do not have a Hulu subscription, it is available on Netflix in France, but unfortunately, that is the only Netflix region in which it can be streamed.

You can, most likely, buy it in your local Amazon store, or from Google Play, or from Apple Store, so I guess you will find a way to access this movie if you are really interested.

Have you seen it? I would love to hear your thoughts about the movie!

After your review, I will definitely give it a try. But first I have to buy my Amazon or Hulu subscription.

It's not on Amazon, but on Netflix in France... but Hulu is probably better... But, the easiest might be to look for it in Google Play Store or in Apple Store :) EAsier to find there!

Thanks, I don't know why I wrote Amazon.
