Q&A with Rem D. Koolhaas About United Nude "Low Res Car"
The Talk
When he was young, he was really into cars. He wanted to know specs, prices, etc. He didn't like how car designers or the process operated once he began learning about that process and quickly moved on to shoes. He made shoes that nobody would make, provocative for the fashion industry at the time. He followed his design heart to make things he thought were cool, and that's how it began.
How the process all started. In 2007, they bought a 3D scanner. They scanned objects and the software allowed them to play with the resolution which is what began to inspire low res items. He was able to design, simplify, etc. They first did low res as a shoe then moved on to new objects. Including a wine glass.
Much of the talk was about design process. Rem D. Koolhaas was in China for a long period struggling financially while coming up with his best design concepts. Though he may have come from a family of affluence, he has worked hard and struggled financially on his own to achieve his success.
He's a cool dude.
Process
As a process of simplification (many designers like to do this), Rem D. Koolhaas decided to take a piece of hardware and software that United Nude had, and create low res recreations of popular things. He took a modern Lamborghini, scanned it and produced a lower resolution rendering of it, in which birthed the Low Res Car.
Stage 1: Lower resolution of original Lamborghini and begin getting "low poly" renderings as seen in many type of video game graphics.

So.. is it real? The answer is yes. I saw it with my own eyes. The next section is all my own photos.

The best thing about the car, other than the design is the fact that it is 100% electric! It's not only futuristic looking such as a Lambo is, but the insides are equally futuristic beating out even the Lambo in that respect. Remember it's not for those with a need for speed though, it's max speed is about 40 MPH. Get a Lambo if you want to go fast, and totally not stand out or get a speeding ticket (sarcasm).

You bet. They made it, it is cool because these shapes are so simple, but definitely resemble reality.

But seriously, you can. If you really want to... PM me and I can get the contact info of the sellers. They have about 12 in circulation for sale right now. Don't ask the price, I just don't know and don't want to. But I know for something of that limited of release by an acclaimed designer and larger fashion company... not cheap.
