in #destasteem6 years ago
Tourists who travel to the northern capital of Egypt - beautiful Alexandria, it is a unique opportunity to visit historical places related to the different periods of Egypt's prosperity era. One of the most ancient monuments that survive up to our time is the Roman amphitheater "Odeon", supposedly built in the 2nd - 4th century AD.

The historical route, the modern path Shari Al Sharayya, once the main street of Hellenic Alexandria, stretches from east to west through the center of the capital. Most of the monuments and buildings of Ptolemies are placed here. At the intersection with Soma street (now Shari Al-Nabi Dan), most likely it settled the last of the three alleged tombs of Alexander the Great, here is the Mouseion Research Center (museum) - Academy of Arts and Sciences, which includes a large library of Alexandria

At the end of Soma Street in ancient times there were two obelisks, known as Cleopatra needles. In the nineteenth century, they were moved from Egypt - one obelisk now stands on the banks of the River Thames in London, the other adorned with Central Park in New York. But the highest monument 25 meters in Alexandria still remains - this is the Pompeian Column.
