Fritillaria meleagris

Fest eingeplant ist jedes Jahr ein Ausflug in das Sinntal im Spessart. Dort zwischen Obersinn und Altengronau findet man eines der größten Gebiete in denen die Schachblume noch vorkommt. Die Sinn ist ein Nebenfluss der fränkischen Saale. Durch die regelmäßige Überschwemmung sind die Wiesen dort relativ feucht und die Schachblume findet optimale Bedingungen. Nur wenn diese wechselfeuchten Wiesen erhalten bleiben, ist der Bestand an Schachblumen gesichert.

Every year a trip to the Sinntal in the Spessart is scheduled. There, between Obersinn and Altengronau, you will find one of the largest areas where chess flowers still occur. The Sinn is a tributary of the Franconian Saale. Due to the regular flooding, the meadows there are relatively dank and the chess flower finds optimal conditions. Only if these alternately humid meadows are preserved, the stock of chess flowers is secured.

Alljährlich findet Ende April bei Obersinn auf dem Parkplatz vor der Reithbrücke, das Schachblumenfest statt. Diese Veranstaltung wird von den Landfrauen organisiert. Aber nicht nur für das leibliche Wohl ist dort bestens gesorgt, auch musikalisch geht es zünftig zu. Für die zahlreichen Besucher, werden Führungen durch die Rückenwiesen angeboten. Nicht nur Schachblumen, sondern eine Vielzahl an Kräutern und Insekten kann man auf den Wiesen beobachten. Diese bilden eine einzigartige Flora und Fauna, die das Wandern zu einem besonderen Vergnügen macht.

Every year at the end of April the chess flower festival takes place at Obersinn on the parking lot in front of the Reithbrücke. This event is organized by the Landfrauen. But not only for the bodily welfare is there in the best way provided, also musically it goes to guild. For the numerous visitors, guided tours through the Rückenwiesen are offered. Not only chess flowers, but also a variety of herbs and insects can be observed on the meadows. These form a unique flora and fauna that makes hiking a special pleasure.

Diese Schachblume ist mir sofort aufgefallen. Noch nie hatte ich eine Schachblume mit derart geöffneter Blüte entdeckt und war überrascht. Meine Meine Frau hatte die Erklärung zu dieser seltsamen Blüte. Fotografen vor mir, hatten die Blüte von Hand geöffnet.

I immediately noticed this chess flower. Never before had I discovered a chess flower with such an open flower and I was surprised. My wife had the explanation for this strange flower. Photographers before me had opened the flower by hand.

Sehr selten findet man die weiße Variante der Schachblume Fritillaria meleagris f. alba. Sie gilt als Rarität im Spessart und ich habe mich natürlich sehr gefreut, als ich dieses seltene Exemplar zwischen einem Meer der farbenprächtigen anderen Pflanzen entdeckt habe.

Very rare is the white variant of the chess flower Fritillaria meleagris f. alba. It is considered a rarity in the Spessart and I was naturally very pleased when I discovered this rare specimen between a sea of colorful other plants.

Auch 2019 werden wir auf jeden Fall wieder das Sinntal besuchen, um diese botanische Rarität zu fotografieren. Seit fast vierzig Jahren stehen die extensiv bewirtschafteten Flächen unter Naturschutz. Nur so kann der wertvolle Lebensraum für das seltene Liliengewächs erhalten bleiben.

Also in 2019 we will visit the Sinntal again to photograph this botanical rarity. For almost forty years the extensively cultivated areas have been under conservation. This is the only way to preserve the valuable habitat for this very rare lily plant.
