9.SpT: VfB München – FT München-Gern II 4:2
Sparta, the Leader Scare!
Already for the second time in this first round, VfB Munich has managed a victory against the current leader of the table. Against the second from FT Gern, the eleven of coach Sakis delivered a passionate game, which was crowned with a 4:2 and three points. Crazy world, considering that two of our three wins were against the current best teams in the league.
The intensive preparation for the match against the league leader began on Friday evening in the form of a team evening including tactics training. This took over newcomer Johannes. Using FIFA on PS4, he showed us what he had learnt during his studies at Oxford. Hats off, we should probably open an e-sports department. Otherwise it remains to be said that perhaps we should lift more often on Friday evening. This increases the chance that we won't do it on Saturday.
Coach Sakis had to switch to a few positions. Our all-rounder Daniel Lindner moved up to his actual position, the six. Alex van Gerwen äh Alex van der Hase äh Alex however occupied the right defender position. And Tom Gehrke, who had something better in mind on team evening, was even rewarded with a place in the starting eleven in the central defence.
But Gehrke already paid his debt to the team in the 9th minute with perhaps the most beautiful free-kick this league has ever seen. There Markus Kropf could almost no more than extend with the head to Bertrand Charpentier, who speculated well and from close range netted, 1-0. Experts would say 50% Tom's goal, 50% Bertis goal.
Gladly looked a bit nervous in the following minutes and the VfB noticed that now bit by bit more offensively became and numerous corners were awarded. In the 23rd minute Gern used the space after a corner skillfully and combined up to the goal of Anton Weger, 1:1. There the VfB had not made it in time to his positions.
Afterwards, both teams found more stability again and also the duel intensity increased. With increasing course, the game direction of Gern became more offensive, they wanted to win this game. And that played into the cards for VfB.
In the 60th minute Duracel-Kotti sprints after a seemingly hopeless ball that the keeper wants to beat away. In fact, the keeper also hits him away, but he hits Kotti on the shoulder from which the ball jumps into the goal, 2:1. A leek could not have done that, but fortunately the Kotti is so massive that the keeper could not shoot past him.
And only four minutes later a great counterchance opened up. The fast Vincent Timnik wins over on the right, but has even the shot chance but deliberately puts off on Kottmann, who perfectly moves the ball into the left corner, 3:1. Suddenly it was like us in so many games this season. One did felt more for the game and caught himself behind the counter.
But was not over yet. In the 77th minute, VfB lost a great counterchance, which immediately becomes the countercounter. From the middle circle the pass follows in the middle before the sixteens, where the Gern striker accepts the ball and sinks, 3:2. The middle was too open. But it was no longer a nail-biting game, because only a minute later the Kieferngarteners restored the two-goal gap. Anil Sharma conquered the ball at his own corner flag, sent his opponent into the void, initiated the attack and left himself. In the middle circle he gets the ball himself again and sees Alex Thurmeier on the left, whom he serves perfectly. Thurmeier is through and pulls towards the goal. From a difficult angle he takes the shot and hits perfectly in the short corner, 4:2. The change of wings of Timnik and Thurmeier at half time seems to have been worth it. The suggestion could only have come from a real genius #Fleischmuetze
Twice Anton Weger rescued in highest emergency, but then it was done. And it continued directly where it had stopped on Friday evening.
Conclusion:
It may sound crazy that we are on the third last place and have won against the supposedly two best teams of the league. But it's not that crazy when you look at the game anymore. Unterföhring and Gern were both teams that wanted to make the game, invested a lot in the front, but at the same time offered a lot of room for counterattacks. So a bit like we played in our other games and had the same problems with it. The more defensive, more wait-and-see game suits us a lot better and we should think about that again when we play against teams further down the table - especially when we fall behind.
