Wie schon bei den bisherigen Coins, fällt auch dieser durch eine sehr niedrige Marktkapitalisierung von 73 Mio. $ im Vergleich zu einer sehr hohen Entwickleraktivität (Platz 28 bei coingecko.com) auf. Technisch stellt Gridcoin einen dezentralen Supercomputer dar, ähnlich wie es golem tut. Golem hat derzeit eine Marktkapitalisierung von 820 Mio. $. Das theoretische Aufholpotezial von Gridcoin entspricht also einer Verelffachung.
