Spliff - Deutscher Klassiker für die 7-Day Wayback Music Challenge (day 2)

in #deutsch6 years ago (edited)

Spliff - NDW?

German Vinyl Sounds - Spliff

This is my day 2 contribution for the Seven-Day Wayback Challenge @steevc nominated me. Sorry for the bad quality photo, it was early this morning and I was tired but wanted to show a proof of this vinyl music product I bought in 1982. The entire album is cool so I could not nominate just one song. Das Blech is a kind of German New Wave Funk Dance song - sounds strange? It is indeed. Some other of their songs that were extremely successful in Germany are added too here: "Carbonara and Deja Vu"

A little excerpt from Wikipedia to show you guys who I am talking about:

The members were already playing together before they were 'adopted' by Nina Hagen when she came to West Germany in 1977. They recorded two albums with her as the Nina Hagen Band before continuing under the name Spliff when Hagen went solo. Their characteristic sound was a mix of electronic music, reggae and punk rock. They recorded "The Spliff Radio Show" in 1980, their only album in English. After parting ways with vocalist Alf Klimek, the remaining members carried on in German sharing vocals between all four of them. Their album 85555 however was released in a limited English edition too, which is extremely rare. They had major hits on the German singles chart with "Carbonara" and "Das Blech". Despite their influential status, the band was short-lived.

I nominate a cool chap - the one and only @alexvan to show us details about his student time music memories - but no pressure - I hardly manage to do that daily as my Day 1 post was 4 days ago.

The rules:

  • Choose one song from your high-school/college years.
  • Write a few words about who made you listen to this song for the first time, what this song means to you (was it a breakup song? you blasted it at 100% on your audio system when you were partying with your friends?) whatever you want.
  • Write your text while listening to the song. As soon as the song ends, wrap up what you where writing and submit it.
  • Do this for 7 days in a row if you get nominated
  • Mention one person who should do this on each day.
  • Tag it with #musicwaybackchallenge and include these rules at the bottom of your post

I am sure it would surprise you that I know who they are and I liked them. Sounded better in German. ;)

You do have awesome taste most days.

Tip!

that's a great..

Beautiful music...

Its interesting to know the kind of song you vibe with lol, i never knew there was a German wave funk dance, even though the song sounds strange it sounds funky, thanks for joining the contest

Nice view!!!

Die habe ich auch reichlich gehört. Bis mir "das Blech wegflog"

Coole Band. Der Schlagzeuger ist allerdings der Hammer.
