Venezolanos y colombianos entre 23 muertos en accidente de bus en Ecuador
Ciudadanos colombianos y venezolanos figuran entre las víctimas del accidente de un autobús que se produjo el martes en las afueras de Quito, que deja al menos 23 muertos y 20 heridos, informó Christian Rivera, de la secretaría de Seguridad de la capital de Ecuador.
"Se ha centrado el trabajo en la identificación de los ciudadanos colombianos y venezolanos, que en su mayoría han fallecido", dijo el socorrista al canal estatal Gama.
Agregó que entre los 23 fallecidos también aparecen tres ecuatorianos que viajaban en un vehículo todoterreno contra el que el bus chocó antes de volcar en el sector de Palugo, en la vía entre las localidades de Pifo y Papallacta, a unos 30 km al este de Quito.
Rivera indicó que tres niños figuran entre las víctimas fatales, anotando que el bus aparentemente cubría la ruta desde la localidad amazónica de Lago Agrio (190 km al este) hasta Quito.
El accidente, según el funcionario, se produjo en una pendiente descendente y el autobús impactó contra tres viviendas.
La teniente de los Bomberos de Quito, Verónica Toapanta, informó de que el accidente se produjo durante la madrugada del martes y de que el bus tenía matrícula extranjera.
El servicio de emergencias ECU911 reportó en un principio que el siniestro había dejado 22 muertos y 18 heridos.
El domingo pasado murieron 12 hinchas del club Barcelona del puerto de Guayaquil (suroeste), el más popular del fútbol de Ecuador, y otros 30 resultaron heridos al accidentarse el bus en el que viajaban tras asistir a un partido por el torneo nacional, en el que su equipo de visitante empató 1-1 con Deportivo Cuenca.
Los accidentes de tránsito figuran entre las principales causas de muerte en Ecuador. Estos sucesos dejan en promedio siete muertos y unos 80 heridos al día en el país, según el observatorio ciudadano Justicia Vial.
Un 96% de los siniestros en las vías están ligados al factor humano, impericia del conductor en la mayoría de casos.
