RE: "Storing medical records on Blockchain could save NHS time and money". Blockchain technology could ease the burden of administration on the NHS by storing patients’ medical data.

Well, the blockchain is a big slow database.
And so, it is not cost effective to the NHS to use a blockchain to store patient data.

However, there are several pieces that are ancillary to blockchains that can really help.

  1. the blockchain is distributed, thus can be accesssed just about anywhere.

  2. cryptos already work on encryption, thus the data is can be cryptographically stored with little effort.

  3. the data is not shareable without the private key.

  4. The NHS gets to outsource its database cost.

So, blockchains will be used as a stop gap measure in the near future for medical data.

However, the medical industry is going to change very drastically in the near future. Going from an un-health system to a health system.

The information stored and shared in the future will not even overlap with what we store today.
