DigitalNote XDN Update: Anti-ASIC Hardfork + Return of Merge Mining?

New Team √ New Dream √

After briefly passing .10 cents in January, DigitalNotes XDN hit a wall along with the market. Thankfully, DigitalNote's Official Transitional Statement was released on April 24th declaring ...

DigitalNote is under active development by veteran community members and skilled developers after the seeming disappearance of the old dev.

Anti-ASIC/Anti-Botnet Hardfork Planned for Block 668,946

The community has had enough of the ASICs.

I've merge-mined XDN+XMR for about 7mos and back in March of this year, before Monero XMR and other CryptoNote coins forked-off the ASICs and Botnets; I predicted that DigitalNote XDN difficulty would plummet at first, then spike to oblivion after the fork.

The initial fall was significant once merge mining was no longer available, XDN lost 90%+ of it's total hashrate. The ASICs took over almost overnight and It was documented here ...

Thanks to the new dev team, there's a plan of action and DigitalNote XDN will be hardforked ~June 25th!

XDN Hardfork Info from BitcoinTalk

IMPORTANT UPDATE (HARDFORK ON JUNE 25, 2018 @ ~12AM UTC, Fork Height 668,946):

  • Proof-of-work change to CryptoNightV1 (variant 1 also known as "monero7") to remain ASIC resistant
  • Difficulty adjustment algorithm has been updated to Zawy's LWMA to resist hash and timestamp attacks
  • Seed nodes updated to be operational (no more unresponsive seeds from old dev)
  • Block target reduced to 2 minutes
  • Difficulty is hardcoded to “reset” back to GPU levels for blocks immediately following the fork so that the network continues to work as intended and does not stall
  • Latest checkpoints and small Payment Gate bug fix

Major pools and exchanges have been notified in advance about the hardfork and the team will begin distributing the updated core in preparation for the fork. If there are any issues with major exchanges we will delay the fork date but as of now it is set tentatively for June 25th (or more accurately block height 668,946).

The newest wallet client will be available on our github and posted on this thread for our users before the fork date: https://github.com/DigitalNoteXDN/digitalnotewallet/releases

The Return of XDN+XMR Merge Mining?

The concept of merge mining XDN with Monero XMR (again) peaked my interest, so much so I had to ask a member of the dev team directly in the XDN Discord ... Screen Shot 2018-06-11 at 10.55.57 AM.png

XDN is no longer confined to Minergate, there are more XDN pools than ever, hopefully merge mining will be available soon after the hardfork.

New XDN Mining Pools

Tip: XMR-STAK-WIN64 is recommended by the XDN developers and personally, it's the ONLY CryptoNight mining software I use to avoid invalid shares.

Even FreeXDN.com, the DigitalNote XDN Faucet is Off

FreeXDN.com has turned-off the faucet until after the fork and...

Payments will resume after this date once our new wallet has synchronised. FreeXDN welcome this change and look forward to stability returning DigitalNote.

Reflection

Seems like everyone is tuning in at the right time; the fundamentals are there and the community is responding. No more XDN give-aways for me.!

@donald.porter has set 1.000 SBD bounty on this post! logo_for-light-bg_1000.png
What is a bounty exactly?

A bounty is money sent to a post to be distributed to the users commenting on it. It provides a way to reward users directly and works in addition to the steem/sbd they receive from the blockchain. It works independently of SteemPower.

You create a bounty by sending any amount of sbd/steem to @steem-bounty together with a post-url in the memo.

How can I earn a bounty Users are then competing for the bounty by writing their answers to the post in comments that will achieve upvotes from the community and especially the bounty creator. The money of the bounty gets distributed to all top level comments of the post at the same time when the post is paid out (7 Days after it was written). How much everyone gets depends on the votes the comments received. The sender of the bounties votes are weighted higher so that she decideds where 80% of the bounty money goes and all other votes determine the rest.

@steem-bounty does all of this for you automatically. You can use this service to automatically pay out a challenge, ask a hard question or simply to reward the people that interact with you.

Read more about how it works, even in different languages here.

Congratulations to the following winner(s) of the bounty!

Also this will help the hardfork to become a breeze because of the hashrate the monero has compared to the ETN fiasco where asic difficulty is to the moon. Hopefully devs will prioritize the merge mining and probably opensource the pool for that.

According to the devs merge mining will be available but it's up to the pools to enable it. Being that it was one of Minergate's best known features, I expect them to enable it asap.

Yeah, ETN is another sad example.😔 The war against ASICs continues...

Actually, I believe in the future of XDN and how well it turns out. Right now, if you have some fiat, it's good time to bag up XDN.
